Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

When it first aired i had a kids crush on the lieutenant.

Edit. Her. Crusher. Amanda from Stargate. The girl in Sliders early seasons. And Xenas roommate. Those were my sci-fi crushes back in the day.

And then later there was Boomer in BSG, and T'pol.

The girl in Sliders early seasons

Sabrina Lloyd, aka Wade Welles. Who got pushed out when Sliders brought in their own Seven of Nine...Kari Wuhrer

Yeah that part of the show was already downhill. When they brought the guys real life brother in on as a cast member and the other guy (who was great in Lord of the rings) left, the show basically died.

That show was a rollercoaster behind the scenes.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

It was. It's an interesting story if anyone wants to look it up

T'Pol was very much an adult crush.

Right of passage.

That's what Beverly should have showed him how to do instead of tap dancing. She was supposedly good enough at it to be nicknamed The Crushinator

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

you have to get Bev really, really blazed for that to happen.

And to be clear, she's the reason the replicators on the ship can't make a good blunt. Except in engineering, and that's just because they "accidentally forgot" to lock out one replicator in the auxillary engineering workshop on the starboard nacelle.

If you're thinking, "HEY, but the nacelles can't be manned during operation..."... That's exactly what the engineers want you to believe.

hacking through a wheezing of coughs

Uh, don't come in here! Uh... Radiation!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I have no idea what I just read, and it makes perfect sense!!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

My headcannon is that you can, in fact, go in the nacelles while they're operating, and be perfectly safe, but starleet's corps of engineers tells everyone else that the radiation would kill them so they can have their own, private little space. Like a secret engineers club. (but also, they can transport guests in and have parties without fear of somebody crashing it.)

the replicator in that space lacks the controls to prevent people from fabricating things that are of dubious legality. Like weed, which ordinarily wouldn't be a problem, except Blazin Bev is a world class stoner; and that forced Picard to order it onto the forbiden list. the killjoy.

The port nacelle is the grow, obviously.

Lots of “interesting” botanical specimens.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

but the nacelles can’t be manned during operation

Is my new go-to phrase. Thank you

A non-binary masc fem person sleeping with an autistic character?...

... totally plausible.

What now?

Tasha is a woman

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Maybe... Maybe some of the "male" crew wore miniskirts and they just don't worry that much about that stuff in the future.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is completely headcanon territory. Which is fine, but presenting it like it is somehow accepted fact is a little ridiculous.

Tasha is a tough woman from a violent and lawless world who became the security officer on the enterprise after the federation helped her get away from there (not very fleshed out that part, iirc). Eventually, through some time travel weirdness she was taken prisoner by the romulans in the past and became romantically involved with one of them, leading to the birth of Sela (and her offscreen execution brought on by her attempt to flee with her daughter).

I'm not really sure where you get that she is somehow not a bog standard woman in that. Is it the short hair? If yes then that seems a little sexist in itself.

Either way, they don't care that much about that stuff in the future, as you say. So why would Tasha even identify as anything else, when it is perfectly accepted to be just however you are anyway?

It was more a comment about that style of coupling happening a lot in real life. You're really taking a throw away comment far too earnestly as an attack on her identity.
