I also thought that...

And the reason, I think, is simple. Product names are usually nouns, not verbs. So when I see "treat", I think of "a treat", not the act of treating something.

It should be "UTI test + treatment".

You're right.

This is why you're probably not in marketing design.

"Maybe the company isn't from a country where English is the main language, that would explain the odd terminology," I thought.

Winx Health is an American women's health company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Oh.

Americans are some of the worst at their own language, so it's not at all surprising they're not from elsewhere.

I'd say there's no need to change the wording, just instead of saying

UTI test

+ treat

I'd say

UTI

test + treat

Would be clearer

I initially thought it was a treat (like some sort of jellied lolly inside or something). However, the word "treat" could be used in a verb sense, as in "to treat". It is 100% not clear though.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I think they shouldn't have told them and waited for the inevitable box shaking and "what no treat?"

[–] [email protected] 34 points 4 days ago

Doesn't the package show the three lollies that are included?

[–] [email protected] 33 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The world would be a lot better place if everything came with a little treat.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 days ago

You can have an inflamed urethra, as a treat.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Tbf I've never seen "treatment" shortened to "treat"

At least put a period at the end to show it's abbreviated.

Ah yes, the UTI test with included "we are harvesting medical data to sell it to data brokers so you also get to have the benefit of maybe medicine if our online "doctors" feel like prescribing it"

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

and/or: huh, subject appears to be pregnant.

Better sell that info off to the red state they live in, in case they try to order abortifacients or take a vacation soon.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Haha what an idiot lmfao (so is it like uti medicine that comes with the test or what?)

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Looks like it comes with access to an online doctor who can prescribe you meds to treat the UTI.

You can probably get a sticker or lollipop at the pharmacy if you ask nicely.

Ok, unrelated, but now I'm thinking back to when we had to put down our dog. Later that day we stopped by the store and we were visibly sad, but still needed groceries.

The workers were so lovely. One asked what was up, told him, and he gave us flowers and some stickers. That helped a lot. It was our first pet loss as adults and it was good to be reassured that our feelings were ok.

Sometimes stickers help.

It comes with little popsicles!

Reminds me how several years back, the Calibre ebook reader software added a feature called "Polish ebooks".

I thought it'd automatically add some random Andrzej Sapkowski and Stanisław Lem titles to my library. Nope, it was just a feature to clean up messy document conversions, apparently.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 days ago

Sigh, me too

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago

A mini snickers "in there" would probably give you a UTI

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago

[flips package around]

... wtf, the treat is asparagus?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago

It's that you can eat the paper after the test.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

There is a treat *wink wink*

Urinary Tract Infection test, maybe?

You test for Urinary Tract Infections by lighting a match?

That’s how I test for gas leaks.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

Brilliant. Flawless execution

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

You test for Urinary Tract Infections by lighting a match?

Once, when I suspected a urinary tract infection, I just went to my GP to get it tested. That is the big advantage of living in a civilized country with a working medical insurance system...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

IDK much about UTIs other than it makes women pee their pants, I'd fail the test methinks

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

Women get more UTIs than men as they have shorter urethras, so infective agents are more likely to get all the way up the urethra without being pushed out by urine

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Urinary Tract Infection test? Just guessing.
