Fast approaching burnout tbh.

I work for an American firm in the tech sector. They've become enamoured with LLMs, and fired most technical staff around me (both UK and US based)... Now they ask what the holdup is regarding everything everyone else used to do. Eventually they realised they may have fired too many people, and so brought on a contracting firm to supply me with personnel needed. Meaning I need to train up 30 or so Indians remotely on systems I never really used in the first place.

Got a week off planned in Shropshire next week though. So just counting down the hours before I can escape the chaos.

And then you can return to work with reinvigorated resentment. Sorry to hear about your predicament, though.

Haha you're not wrong!

I think a lot of people are going through similar if not worse, but I appreciate the sentiment nonetheless, thanks mate.

It’s been rather hot and I needed to get some painting done. That was not ideal. Otherwise good.

What about you?

You've been painting in this weather? Are you OK? :D The paint was probably drying before it even went onto the walls!

Yeah my week was fine ta, was just rather hot! I work from home and it was pretty unbearable on Friday. Seriously starting to think about investing in solar & A/C given that the summers are going to continue like this!

+1 on the solar panel and a/c suggestion.

If you can't afford to install central a/c. A portable unit will set you back £300 odd at Argos, and easily cool a room down (like an art studio, for example). just make sure it has a compressor or lists BTU measurements... otherwise it's probably a water cooler in a trench coat, rather than true Aircon, and the British climate doesnt allow water coolers to work all that effectively.

I recommend them to lots of people who rent or can't afford the renovation costs associated with A/C etc, and most are more than happy with results

The horrors persist, but so do I!
