As someone who eats lunch in downtown Oakland every day, hopefully this will cut down on the lines.

Somebody should invent a device that launches hard projectiles at great speed when activated. A potential victim can point it at their attacker, use the activation mechanism and allow the attacker to decide whether a life of crime is really for them.

Somebody should invent an economic system where, like, no one gets a lot more, so that others also get something and that takes away the incentives for petty theft? Since we're spitting ideas here

Great solution! Oakland should be more like Mad Max or Somalia or something. Good thing that people wouldn't incur any risk by threatening groups of criminals with firearms, and shooting people doesn't have any negative psychological impact.

You're right, what I'm suggesting would turn parts of California into a lawless wasteland shithole where you can't leave your workplace for a lunch break. What was I thinking?

Where have I seen that before? Oh that’s right, the movie Demolition Man. Can we please stop trying to emulate dystopian science fiction please. We’ve been too successful at it as is.

I thought people were saying Oakland was already a lawless wasteland shithole where you can't leave your workplace for a lunch break.

Doctors and nurses that patch up bullet holes tend not to be the biggest fans of firearms.

Also criminals when their intended marks are allowed to own them.

The criminals can just shoot first, lol

Criminals love when guns are legal and easy to access because it makes it easier for them to acquire guns

Residents of Oakland are very much allowed to own firearms. They can also concealed carry if they take a training course and fork over $100.

Dude, I live in a big city (Berlin) where it's effectively forbidden to own guns, that according to american conservatives is a war zone with no go zones, I walk everywhere, and it would be unthinkable to be mugged in broad daylight anywhere in the city.

The problem is not the lack of guns.
