"It's about how old your ideas are. Look, I mean, this is a guy who wants to take us back," Biden added. "He wants to take us back on Roe v. Wade."

Is he saying trump wants federal abortion protections reinstated?

Or did Biden forget we already lost Roe vs Wade during his presidency?

And wasn't Biden literally just talking about how he wants to take politics back to when he and Strom Thurmond could still be great friends even though they're in different parties?

Anyone have a link the the full clip? It's not in the article, not on Seth's YouTube channel for the show, and I don't have Peacock.

I really hope you're a troll because if anyone genuinely thinks like this I am concerned for democracy.

So what do you think?

Did Biden say the opposite that he meant to?

Is this just another example of how if you point a camera at Joe Biden, you can't trust anything he says as what he meant to say?

I don't understand how either case makes you think he's capable of holding the most important job in America.

Although I'm assuming you'll either not reply or just insult me again for being honest about Biden's capabilities

The fight for Roe is still active. It may have been repealed but there's pushing in both directions - remember that those rights still exist in many states. Trump would change that for sure.

Biden is old but this is definitely not an example of his memory going. He knew what he said and what he said was true.

So you think Biden meant trump wants to take us back from now (it's repealed) past what it was when Trump was president (abortion protected) and back even further (to before it was passed)?

That makes absolutely zero logical sense, and sounds like a Republican defending the crazy shit trump says.

Thanks for clarifying, but if that's how you feel I'm never engaging with you again and will take the very easy step to ensure that.

What? Trump had nothing to do with abortion being protected. Biden didn't overturn it. Are you being deliberately obtuse?

Republicans want further restrictions. You know this. What do you think will happen if we vote in another Republican - especially one as hostile as Trump?

Thanks for clarifying, but if that's how you feel I'm never engaging with you again and will take the very easy step to ensure that.

Lmao damn I've been owned by Lemmy's smartest user!! How will I recover

He is being deliberately obtuse, yes.

It's called bad faith and it's all the GOP and their supporters have these days because trump is literally indefensible.

Their only tactic is to try to deflect and play word games that are meaningless.

Anyone with half a brain can see what Biden was actually saying.

No reason to be deliberately obtuse to me anymore seeing as I've been thoroughly and irreparably owned by his last comment :(

Dementia Joe strike again! Homie prolly forgot that Roe V. Wade got overturned and was referencing Trump's opposition to it.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

President Joe Biden on Monday made his latest late-night TV appearance, surprising audiences during the 10th-anniversary episode of "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

In the political sitcom, Poehler's character, Leslie Knope, eventually meets then-Vice President Biden after years of proclaiming her love for him.

In "Parks and Recreation," Poehler's overzealous public servant Knope describes her ideal man as having "the brains of George Clooney and the body of Joe Biden," declares Biden the first and only name on her "celebrity sex list," and stitched a portrait of his face into a "unity quilt" intended to merge her family with that of her husband, Ben Wyatt (played by Adam Scott).

Knope's dreams come true when Wyatt arranges a short meeting with Biden — who appeared twice in cameos on the sitcom — as a wedding present.

The laid-back appearances, which Donald Trump skipped during his tenure, give audiences a more candid view of the politicians than a Sunday news program or press conference offers.

Monday's show isn't the first time this week Biden's charm and virility have made headlines, with an excerpt from the yet-to-be-released book by The New York Times White House correspondent Katie Rogers featuring a few paragraphs about the 81-year-old's sex life with First Lady Jill Biden.

The original article contains 563 words, the summary contains 209 words. Saved 63%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

I'm interested in seeing how this went. It must've been awkward.
