Eve's dad is actually agood dad and I don't understand the hate. He rejects the money because he doesn't want to use her and he knows greed can spiral, why stop at rent, why not a new nouse, new car, why not become the richest in the world? At that point hed be using his daughter, he wants to have her around because shes her not her powers and him rejecting the gold his way of showing that he wont ever use her for her powers. Also he doesn't want her putting her life at risk for strangers, what good parent would want their kid going out there getting injured/dying fot others. Latest episode he didn't try to stop eve, he recognizes when the world is actually at risk and she is needed.

Is he supposed to just let her use her op powers willy nilly? Let her be owned by hre government on a superhero team so he can die for others. Man just wants her to have a normal life where she can use her powers for herself and stay safe, while shes out here not even using a mask going by her real name. He has to go to the extreme since she goes to extremes in the opposite direction. He balances her out and is why she is well rounded.

Obviously hes not perfect, but mans firt kid died at childbirth before it was replaced with another with super powers that has likely been a constant source of stress/worry since she was a child. He just wants her to outlive him.

A comment thread in another post brought up this show and kind of revealed that it's a hidden gem not many people know about, so I figured it'd be advantageous to post it here.

Just finished this and thought it was fantastic. Only 6 episodes.

As you can see, it's quite messy, with a few recent communities. You see people from time to time mentioning how the first "multi-community" they create on apps like Voyager is one to get all the movies communities in one feed.

There are a few options we could consider here

Option 1. Lock it down and redirect to other movies and TV communities.

People were already not posting a lot lately, most of the activity happening on the other communities listed above. There would still be plenty of options (at least two on each topic).

Give me your recent or ancient sci-fi shows that you like. I need them!

I'm going to start off by saying I would recommend watching The Gorge as blind as you can. The trailer doesn't spoil much but it does reveal the framework and direction of the story. If you like the 'vibe' or setting of Annihilation though you may like it.

Shtisel tells a slice of life family story set among ultra orthodox (haredim) Jews in Jerusalem, centered on the Shtisel family headed by patriarch Rabbi Shtisel. Romance, forbidden love, friendship, and family relations are shown in a society with very strict rules about everything.

It's really good at showing the values and strengths, as well as the limits and weaknesses, of such strict way of living. The show gave me a better understanding of why people follow religions and what we might have lost in modern secular society. Even if the rules fail, are broken, or cause harm, they always come from a deep sense of love for humans and their condition.

These very religious Jews use technology as sparingly as possible, which is also a good contrast to how most people live nowadays. It makes their lives slower, but also more immediate, aware, and direct.

The meaning of life, family, humans, our relations with each other, daily struggles, and similar themes are approached in a thoughtful way.

If you know of a show that gives insights into Islam in a similar way, I would love to hear about it.

A bit over streaming at the moment so am queuing up a few Humphrey Bogart movies - does anyone have any recommendations?

So far I have some of the big ones Casablanca, Maltese Falcon, Sabrina. Watched Casablanca for the first time - loved it.

A pretty good animated show for adults. It plays into themes around psychedelic mushrooms and evil big pharma conspiracy theories.

It's made by some of the same people as the masterpiece Scavenger's Reign.

Hi guys! I've been trying to get ahold of a copy of this amazing French TV series, with proper subtitles. I've tried through...wearing a patch methods, and I'd be happy to purchase it physical on blueray, too. But the problem is...Seems the subtitles are a bit of a shoddy work. The English subtitles are missing the parts of English dialogue (so whenever any character switches to English, the subtitles disappear), and some other translation (to Spanish, for example) are missing complete parts of dialogue, in when characters talk Arab mostly.

So my question would be...is there anywhere I could check with the full subtitles in English/Spanish (perhaps also Italian/Portuguese), for ALL dialogues regardless the language spoken?

If these kind of requests are not allowed I apologize.

I am looking for the name of a contemporary sci-fi TV show. American, English language. Its from between 2011 and 2016. Just one season as far as I know. The premise is that a matchmakers wife is "assumingly" kidnapped. Turns out he is the double (possible clone?) of an WW2 SS-officer, and are unknowing part of an larger world conspiracy. Trying to bring about the end if the world? I remember the last scene were one of the main antagonists (now blinded) are waiting in line to see a healer who was revealed in the show.

Ok. So its something im sorta frustrated with in movie and film plots. Its where the characters seem to intentionally not tell other characters things for apparently no reason. So its like a fair amount of the plot would not exist if the characters would just mention relevant things. This is usually in fantasy types like in particular I am seeing it with the magicians and school spirits. I mean maybe behavior like this is common outside my experience but its weird to me.
