I fear this may be the case but since I am not an engineer thought about pulling some opinions here thumbsup

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Didn't thought about a weak seam either! I find that my 4 mm stitch length doesn't look good and I wanted to have 1 or 2 mm more.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Thank you very much. You have correctly deduced the sliders, yepp.

Re-engineering would indeed be a fun project and that's why I was asking for advice.

Stitching by hand didn't even cross my mind so thank you for thinking out of the box! :)

I understand you know how to change the step length that can be changed now, yes?

Yea

You say <2mm to 5mm. My very similar machine can go to almost 10mm but it cannot keep the thread very tight.

I would die for 10 mm. I would be in to adjust the machine while sewing for any step lenght larger then 5 but 10 mm would be perfect.

This is the limiting thing, the machine, every part, is designed for sewing a length of 2-8mm or whatever. A longer stitch step would need a complete change and probably a stronger motor.

I can change gearings, leverages and axles if I understand what to communicate. I am not bound to the current chassis and motor. I can construct a chassis afterwards rezpecting current alignments within nm.

By moving the knob or lever that changes the stitch step length, you will see what is going on.

I circled the change in blue. Leveraging the handle could be the case but axles wind on their own. It is a mind fuc* which can only be put in perspective by Engineers, imo.

Edit: you edited before me!! But I don't adress it yet, since you explain the context more professionally. Thank you in this regards.

The machine is more then 40 years old. I attached the photo. The right handle adjust the zick-zack-width (I had to adjust the chassis to get it zero'd) and the left handle puts the needle 'left'/'middle'/'right' in the feet.

I had to cut some chassis on the right handle to the left and adjust the internal screws so that the axle of stitch width is exactly above the front-needle of the geering. It wasn't exact with a straight stitch prior to this.

I may add again: Me or my friends are capable of changing any axle or gearing to nm but I do not know what to request in the first hand. Engineering is very, VERY, hard.... :(

What thing in my machine is limiting my machine step? The rotation on the inside axle?)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I see your point and I just fixed my spelling mistakes for the third time. Please refer to my comment; I wrote this due to an emotion.

It is clear to me that a more powerful motor would not change my step-width. While writing I wanted to offend people.to answer but when issuing the send-button I was questioning my own words - as always.

Hitting two times submit on the summit app may raise two comments. Sorry.

On both pictures I have hands on the clutch. Enlarging the motor doesn't make sense after reading my own post.

The leverage enable me to fluidly adjust the step-length.

If you explain it correctly, I can do any adjustment but please raise any requirements which raise to you head.

Initial the pictures could not be loaded so I did a comment. I deleted and reused it for this comment.

Hello last resort of the free internet.

I had to sew some stoff for my basement and realized it is a real (marksmen?-)ship. It is more complicated then cutting wood for some furniture.

Anyhow, I want to enlarge my machine's sewing step. That is, I want it to be able to sew more than five milimeters with one step. Maybe I should add a motor with more then 90 W (current Motor), but can this archived with gearing?

I do not care for sewing steps beyond <2 mm. Though my clutch allows any step-width fluidly. I am capable of deconstruct the machine and weld anything to it what is required. And make it in weight.

But my issue is figuring out what change would enlarge the step-width.

Even if your suggestion would change my settings, let me know your idea please.

Some pictures of the Internals:

(when issuing my hand down, the gearing enlarges into the direction of the arrow. But there is a ?Bobbing? on the left side. Imo this should be dependend on a rotation so I can enlarge the leverage nonetheless)

I would appreciate any tip!

I try to be in the middle of my own opinion and beeing inclusive. Sorry for stepping ppl on the toes!

That's a projection. I stated that either cultures are mixed or we split by ethics and opinions.

I just talked to my superior about the most urgent thing EU countries are facing currently. I should add that he is 100% disabled but studied in CS and reads everything which is interesting to him and his world view.

When I said that social media dictates the discussions and the media, we agreed on the thought after a short period.

And if we could solve this issue we mostlikely would get awarded a noble price.

What I am trying to say: Social media is run by - at least - flawed people. And used by the evil ones to their maximum, putting the honest Ones into a position to explain.

We are loosing our discourse, we are mixing our cultures - or we split at our ethics.

Social media is a cancer with no current treatment. Civilians will be in favor of social media since it also benefits society directly. But we are diminishing other things with it.

Maybe there will be one more brilliant mind educated who may aid us in these times.

But all leaders have to be on the same page.

And then this needs to be agreed upon once again so that the current president of the european council makes a clear statement.

If they got the balls the transition period will take some time I suppose.

This is what is leveraged currently, imo.

But this isn't mostlikely the entire world dynamic.. Idk.

Let's start with my mistakes:

  • I haven't followed LKML.
  • I assumed: Every ThinkPad has - overall - perfect Linux support, so this will as well.
  • I did look up support when purchasing but I was still not verifying on the LKML.
  • Edit: I trusted Qualcomm's marketing

So, I wanted a ARM-Linux laptop so bad. I heared about the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s in 2023 and I looked at marketing promises and (rare!) takes on it. Then there was the opportunity to buy this laptop fir a good price with the entire stats I would require for my next 10+ years. So I bought it.

In order to bake Linux on it I had to read up upon many things - I run it daily but have to accept some downsizes.

Anyhow, I thought this title would be interessting regarding Lenovo's and Qualcomm's "success" on ARM so that others may be aware that I am looking daily for the LKML and my model SC8280XP.

There is ONE SINGLE CONTRIBUTOR (there were two; The other joined Lenovo) allowed to have "elected and requested" documents in order to aid support. Despite their intentions (QUALCOMM) to support Linux. And I furthermore assume it hasn't have changed with the new Snapdragon X processors.

So, thanks to John Hovold and Linaro for doing an awesome job. I wish I could support you.

Hey Guys.

After about ten years my father finally agreed to move to Linux. Because his devices I gifted him are not "supported for Windows 11".

And it is a blast - He loved Gnome for having his two games: Mahjong and Solitair.

Everything works flawlessly; He observed me updating Debian to trixie within an instant to get him his OneDrive back.

Anyhow: I would like to recommend some alternative Games he may like; Just to show off hisnnew operating system (of choice, yay).

If this isn't clear: He isn't gaming "Fullscreen". He chills for 30 Minutes with just his mice infront of the computer.

Any alternative to games would be appreciated as well.

Cheers

~~So what's where correct? And what else to consider at your (English speaking) place?

Consider:

  • I want that.
  • I want this, too.
  • I want the same.

I'm asking this (and that) since I participated a discussion with only native speakers and it crushed me. Apparently I am the worst English speaker anywhere.

Teach me things, Lemmy. Pleeaase!

Post scriptum: You may prepend your comment with a common, international country code to don't fuck with me too hard.~~

I am struggling to participate in conversations held in English. Simple choices of words like such named are making me insecure. Which may contribute to the issue that other people have trouble understanding me. I am already trying to keep my sentences short and consume media mainly in English.

Additionally I hoped that countries with English as a second language could provide me with hints to simplify my spoken English.

I learned UK - English back in school; But this has nothing to do with real Englishmen speaking.

Current comments prompt me to revisit the basics of the language. Another task hard to put into daily life.

Almost all recommendations are unavailable in Europe.

I took my measurements and instead of dividing my metric size by 2.54 I applied 2.38. Due to avoidance of using my credit card for purchases in America I used Amazon to grab the Undies.

No refunds, but I could order through Amazon SAXX and BN3TH.

The former is huge. I have to pass them on. Still - the park for my things is of less space then BN3TH. I ordered XXL. The latter is already awesome.

BN3TH is more elastic then SAXX enabling to reduce size if necessay (in terms of leg-radius). Also, the Pouch got two layers which is more safe for circumcised dudes like me. But alignment is more difficult at first since grabbing has to be done more consciously.

SAXX has a - almost see-through - textile when stretched. But you can't; So SAXX appears to be way better for hot conditions or cooling requirements.

I didn't had the opportunity to review lululemons yet since I wasn't taken seriously and had to wait for the ordered pairs first.

Mostlikely I will order a 5-pack of L-sized SAXX after trying on lululemons, since BN3TH are made - to me - for the default-more packed guy. I require some drive to fill them out.

Anyhow, if you need more information - This is an anonymous platform.

Cheers and THANKS. Pouches have definetly aided my issues.

Post Scriptum:

Regarding the recommendations of underwear for gay people: The websites are way too unspecific. I asked in two adult warehouses for such but there was no experience with any of them. So I neglected those.

// Edit:

I am 192 cm and the largest part around my waist is 104 cm which I took for my measurement from.

Hello Internet,

I have trouble with any underwear I ever owned. I am wearing XXL or size 8 underwear but they tend to make me uncomfortable in different matters.

Waering loose Boxershorts is okay to my wiener but my balls are to free. Also they tend to crawl upwards during the day.

Tighter Shorts have a good appearance and are my main underwear. But I struggle with them as well: My thing turtles uncomfortably making me insane so I can pull it into position. Also, they tend to screw at the bottom after half an year.

Asking this within my circles only earns sarcastic comments or the experience isn't shared. So I ask you: How do I determine the correct underwear for me and am I missing something? If you relate and have solved this issue, please recommend me some underwear.

// Edit:

Thank you for all the recommendations and input. I wasn't aware of the pouch feature. Researched all suggested brands and:

Ordered from overseas:

  • SAXX
  • BN3TH

Currently not deliverable:

  • Step One

Lululemon does have a store in the city, so I will go there next week to try those on.

Today I got gifted four cans of Tyskie directly chilled from Poland. Its one of my Favuorites - but you still don't have Pfand.

You guys should step up and demand it immediately. Ecologically we admire + require you but still you don't require returing back aluminium cans. Nor plastic/etc. bottles. And I am assuming neither at glass bottles.

You guys should go onto the streets for 100% compatibility with your silenced Neighbours. Lets strenghten our civilian bonds <3.

Its like the requirement of catalyst after 1999. The snow at last was white(ish) again.
