This is very one sided. There's SO much more to ham radio than voice.

Maybe the question is "How do we get people to think that ham radio is more than just a voice call?"

If you're in the US, you can test online! https://hamstudy.org/sessions/remote

I do agree that the test itself could be tuned down a bit, especially for the tech license. hamstudy.org also has all of the test questions available online to help you study.

Try kagi search! It actually has a “lense” or search option that lets you directly search federated services like lemmy: https://help.kagi.com/kagi/features/lenses.html

[Tech Minds] built one of those cheap automatic antenna tuners you see everywhere — this one scaled up to 350 watt capability. The kit is mostly built, but you do have to add the connectors and a few other stray bits.

Also note that these are spaces and not rooms. They work just a bit different depending on your client.

The link for the main lemmy dev chats can be found in the readme.

If I remember right, there was a pretty big change in how pictrs(photo management) worked with lemmy after 0.19.3. There were a few breaking changes and Postgres updates that would take an instance down for a while as well. Not sure if that’s the reason why but it made my instance stay on 0.19.3 for longer than it should have.

You can search instances and communities with https://lemmyverse.net/communities

As an instance owner and moderator: that’s a horrible way to look at things. Just throwing the onus onto someone else is irresponsible.

I’m all for it as long as people know that posting on something like mastodon and tagging a lemmy community will then make a post in that community. Could make for great discussions, but could also lead to a lot of posts/spam in the communities.

We hear a lot about how ham radio isn’t what it used to be. But what was it like?

To facilitate operations, scripting, and automation on Brandmeister, we are now starting the complete removal of Radio IDs that do not comply with the internationally recognized MCC (Mobile Country Code) numbering system.

If you currently have a device connecting to Brandmeister with a Radio ID starting with the digit “1”, please read the following carefully:

After many improvements to Proton Wallet during the last year and positive feedback from the community, we are opening Proton Wallet to the world so that everyone can enjoy financial freedom and sovereignty.

In an exciting first, we managed to successfully complete a two-way contact by bouncing a signal off a geostationary satellite. The satellite in question, Inmarsat GX-5, is stationed at an altitude of over 35,000 kilometers, and together with Dan, HB9Q, in Switzerland, we alternated between transmitting towards the satellite and receiving reflections. This first ever amateur QSO over geo satellite the remarkable capabilities of modern amateur radio technology when paired with large, high-gain dishes.
