ROCK AND STONE!

It's one election, Micheal. How much can it cost? 10$?

This is in my town. They are allowed and encouraged to do so. Their place is THEIR place, it fosters a sense of community and ownership of the community.

This project really kicks ass and it's making waves. I know the guy is a millionaire, but I've listened to a few interviews and his heart is at the right place. He genuinely cares and is being pragmatic about it.

I wish I could say the same for the billionaires of this province. Looking at you, Irving shitbags.

Remember, all those tariffs are because of...

Carney said in his speach that he would also reverse the capital gains tax increase. So Poilièvre now lost these following arguments:

-Carbon tax

-Capital gains tax

-Trudeau bad

What does he have left? He can't even attack Trump because a good part of his followers are Maga cultists.

PP is toast and he knows it.

Interesting article, thanks.

I am, however, having a very hard time attributing this level of planning and sophistication to a man who can barely put a coherent sentence together, or read more than one page of text. I can't say I find his administration to be all that much better in those regards.

I'm leaning more towards total improvisation. But what do I know? I'm certainly not an economist.

Now, now, Trump does have Musk. I've been told he's the real life Tony Stark.

Can't wait to see his solution to hydrate crops.

With ICE raiding farms, I feel this is the perfect opportunity to get the message across to farmers, who are, for a good part, pro-Trump.

They're telling us where it hurts. Let's hit them there. I say export tarifs on potash.

Start with 25%, and increase them by 25% every week until they submit.

We could call it the Brawndo tax...

Stubled on this gem today.

It's a "hole in the wall" kind of place but the food is incredibly tasty. If you like spicy meat and rice dishes, you won't be disappointed. You can eat there, but it seems geared for take out.

It's tucked away in a basement on York (440 York): it's easy to overlook but it's worth the trip.

Do give this place a try. Fredericton desperately needs more options that are not pizza or burgers!

Neat tool. It's a shame it doesn't cover more provinces and politicians but it's a good start.

For people that may be unaware, his wife is Indian American :

*Republican 2024 vice presidential candidate JD Vance once said about his wife, Usha: “Obviously, she’s not a white person … But I just, I love Usha. She’s such a good mom.” *

I hope it’s OK to post to this community to ask for help. If not, just let me know where I should go.

The Initial Situation

I have an old Aspire E1-472G with a GeForce 820M, which I’d like to give to my son who loves to play “There’s poop in my soup.” The laptop was fine with Mint for Office stuff and browsing, but I couldn’t get it to use the 820m to play games: it would always default to the onboard video card. I tried switching to the Nvidia drivers but all I got was a black screen. So I decided to format and install a gaming-friendly version of Linux. I opted for Pop!_OS, since it looked like it may solve my 820 m problem.

The Problem

I created a Pop!_OS boot USB drive, installation went fine, used defaults for partitions, rebooted, took out the USB drive and… “Operating System not found.”

What I did

Checked boot order: SSD drive is #2, right after USB.

Boot mode: Legacy Bios, but I’ve tried UEFI also–same result.

Tried reinstalling: same

Looked for help online: After reading dozens of posts and their solutions, I can’t get it to work but I suspect it has something to do with Boot Mode or the partitioning, but I can’t figure it out.

My level of skill

I come from Windows and I have installed Mint a few times. I can copy paste stuff in the Terminal, but really, I’m pretty much useless besides that.

What I Hope to Get

I’m not set on POP_OS so if there’s an easier solution, I’m all ears. I think I’m just overlooking something that would be obvious to a more experienced person.

Thanks for your help!

** Update 2024-11-03**

I had some time this morning to tinker with it.

Things I've tried

1-Manually change boot order/put ssd first in BIOS: same result

2-Tried reinstalling while manually doing the partition: same result.

3-While rebooting with boot key, I checked the files on the SSD: I'm no expert, but everything seems there. bin, boot, dev, etc, home, ...

4-Currently downloading the boot repair disk octopus_ink recommendend. It's 2.6G so it's taking a while.

Options I got left

1-Update the bios: seems easier said than done. I'm gonna have to read up on that. 2-Probably my next move: just give up and try another distro! I'm looking at Nobara. https://nobaraproject.org/

Thanks for the suggestions. If ever I get it to work, I'll report back.

While almost every home owner will get a higher property bill this year, can you guess who will get to pay less?

According to provincial assessment figures, the city's largest industrial property, the Irving Oil refinery, has received an assessment increase of 1.66 per cent for 2024.

However, under provincial government property tax rules, Saint John's 2.5 per cent property tax rate cut has to be shared equally with all property owners. That will reduce municipal property taxes collected on the refinery in 2024 by about $25,000.

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list of a jet which crashed killing all on board, Russia's civil aviation authority has said.

Earlier, Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported the Embraer aircraft was shot down by air defences in the Tver region, north of Moscow.

The jet, which was flying from Moscow to St Petersburg, was carrying seven passengers and three crew.

Prigozhin led a failed mutiny against the Russian armed forces in June.

Grey Zone said local residents heard two bangs before the crash and saw two vapour trails.

Tass news agency said the plane caught fire on hitting the ground, adding that four bodies had already been found.

The aircraft had been in the air for less than half an hour, it said.
