If you wait in a line, it would be better for you to have less people in front of you. That does not devalue the life of everybody in front of you. Same story for demographics. There are advantages to having a shrinking population. That does not mean that it is the morally right call to commit mass murder or something like that.

The reality is that fertility rates on all continents, but Africa are below replacement today. That means many countries are going to have shrinking populations in the near future. Obviously that has consequences and at least I do not see a problem in discussing them.

Also no demographics are not going to destroy capitalism by themself. However less workers means workers gain power. If and how they use that is a different question and the fact of the matter is nobody knows. It is a bit like watching a weather forecast and complaining that it does not include a call to revolution.

Rent, eat out every day, spend money on toys, drive an expensive car and so forth. It is surprisingly common.

GM is not a European manufacturer. The Volkswagen ID3 is about the same size as the Bolt and sells pretty well for example.

The EU just probed into Chinese EV makers to figure out what kind of subsidies they get in China and then added those back on top in form of tariffs. You know a sensible approach.

Also no they are not more populare then what the West can produce at the moment. At least not in the EU. BYD got below 3.5% market share in the EV space in Germany.

In terms of democracies in the Americas only Canada and Mexico do not have proportional representation.

The right just blaims the problems created by the rich on minorities like migrants, trans and homosexuals. That makes them look like they actually care about the people being hurt by the system, however also allows them to gain support from the rich. The rich do onw a lot of the media, which has massive influence on the vote.

The left party also knows this, so they usually do some minor things, which do not change the system too much in the hopes on not being hurt by the rich.

Oh and both parties are deeply corrupt.

Looking at quite a few reactions from other countries, a lot of them seem to want to brain drain the hell out of the US.

Recovering South Korean shopaholic-turned-climate activist Lee So-yeon used to buy new clothes almost daily – until a $1.50 winter coat triggered an awakening that stopped her shopping entirely.

While looking at the ultra-cheap padded jacket at an H&M shop in the United States, where she was working at the time, Lee asked herself how any item of clothing could be sold so cheaply.

The 30-year-old embarked on a deep dive into fast fashion production methods and was horrified at the human, social and environmental toll hyperconsumerism is having on the planet – and on the mental health of women who make and buy cheap clothes.

[...]

The reason the clothes are so cheap, Lee learned, is because the women who sew for companies are paid little, while the business model itself is causing significant environmental harm.

[...]

Lee now organises clothing swaps with her friends and family, and has written a book to promote the idea of valuing garments for “the story behind it”, rather than chasing ephemeral trends.

She is part of a small but growing global movement seeking to promote second-hand clothing and help people – especially women – opt out of the cycle of over-consumption.

The app Lucky Sweater provides a platform for users to trade items from their closets with each other, focussing on sustainable brands, founder Tanya Dastyar [said].
