generally temperate, A little hot, a little cold, a little wet, a little dry.

On average I would say it's somewhere between below boiling and above freezing, depending on the season.

They say that immersion is one of the best ways to pick up a new language.

If it was everywhere all of the time, and you took advantage of things like community language learning events and language learning apps, you could become fluent in a matter of months.

After all, most people only need like a thousand to two thousand words to get by, So yeah, well, you may not be languidly discussing Proust during a bachanal with your neighbors by the end of the season, you should be able to identify stores and food items and discuss the weather and minor events.

I've been to several countries.

Translation apps are not perfect, but they can get you by in a pinch.

If it runs "fast enough" on a completely clean system that would cost the average user $1500, then companies assume that that means that it is a good product.

If you want better software, you have to give developers worse hardware to develop on, and more time to develop.

I was in second grade when they changed the way that Wednesday is spelled.

It used to be Wendsday, at least that's how it was spelled in the universe I came from.

Nothing has really made sense since.

I was at the thrift store the other day and I found a box for $5 for sale that had a piece of the Berlin Wall in it.

I don't even know why, but I had to snap it up, and now it's sitting on my little curio shelf.

I feel like for wooden windows all you would have to do is pull the trim and then you can remove the glass slider and sand it down so that it will slide correctly and then reassemble.

That definitely seems like something that could be done weekend warrior style with a couple of cheap tools and a few YouTube videos.

That reminds me, I also need to redo my fence.

I have 23 fence posts that will probably need to all be pulled and replaced, and then do all of the rafters and whatnot.

Yay

Let's see, internally I have some trim to paint, and I need to install the motion sensor LED lighted stairway paths on the internal and external stairs and install the tops for the steps.

I might redo the motion sensor under cabinet lighting because the modules that are there are 4,000 Kelvin and I would prefer 3,300 Kelvin.

After that, I need to clean and organize, I have one countertop to replace, A few doors to shorten to account for the new flooring that I just installed.

Then it'll be time to redo the bathrooms.

They're just going to get a light update with a new bathtub, new countertop and sink, new vanity, and painted walls.

Once that's done, I'll probably hire somebody to paint the interior.

Oh yeah, and I need to dig trenches and install the external 12 volt lighting for the driveway.

Lots to do. I could easily spend the rest of the year just doing all of that, but once it's done, the only thing left to do would be to like paint or replace internal doors so that they'll match the new trim and possibly rework the railing on the stairs to make them a little safer, a little more up to date.

Nothing that a translation app on your phone can't fix.

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I wouldn't necessarily trust that. I have used Xfinity for a long time and my IP address often went months without changing.

If I want to scream into the void, I can do that anywhere and anytime, and I do not need a web server to do it.

To quote Ariel, I want to be where the people are.

Their jokes about assigning gender to babies and to being transgender, dressing in drag, like all of it was a send-up.

Sure, they did punch down if you were a person who were in those groups, but the fact that it was large enough social event to be relevant enough to be a comedy skit on a television show or a movie seen by millions implies that there were some serious things going on back then that they could see and wanted to address.

What the hell was going on that put all of those things in their mind?

I'm sure we've got the technology somewhere. We just need like a giant fucking tree to suck the carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and to desalinate the oceans. Something that's the size of an island all by itself.

I don't care if it's 100 billion trees woven together with some science fuckery, but we need an Yggsrasil if we want to fix the planet.

Think about it. A giant tree out in the middle of the ocean that sucks up all of our carbon dioxide and turns it into more trees and that sucks the salts and minerals and plastics out of the ocean and incorporates those into itself until it grows as tall as 100 billion trees woven together with dark science can possibly grow.

Sure, it'll cost I don't know several billion dollars to make this happen a trillion I don't fucking know, but if we had that the world would get better.

Like I get the push more air through your mouth and get louder but my voice never breaks. I just get louder and louder and louder until I can't get louder anymore.

One time a friend of mine was a half a block away in the wrong direction and I screamed their name and they jumped because they said it sounded like I was right behind them talking in my normal voice just very loudly.

But then I listen to singers and they get that raw raspy edge to their voice and my voice doesn't do that.

How do you do that?
