No don't hurt me!

Hahaha, thank you. To anyone wondering, I deleted the automatic updater out of the Wine directory and that has fixed the crashing, and I've given up on the driver for my USB to HDMI adapter and I'm going to just use VGA.

I knew there would be some growing pains, but I'm mostly surprised at how much stuff just works out of the gate, and how relatively easy it's been.

I just installed Mint on my gaming TV table. I'm currently struggling to install a driver that works with my displaylink adapter. I'm also having an issue with my VTT (Arkenforge) where it fails to update and crashes.

Oh I'm not disagreeing with you there. In this case, they were being brought in as a defendant for a wrongful death case. The probably realized there was some potential PR damage from considering invoking the Disney+ terms (rightfully so, fuck them), but I'm sure they weighed that against the liability of the wrongful death suit.

In the case of the video, I'd be surprised if they went after Robert, because I don't see them gaining more from this case than they would lose in publicity. I could be wrong though, perhaps we'll see!

Getting into a legal battle with an immensely popular YouTuber would probably cost them a lot more in bad publicity than they would reasonably make from a lawsuit. I guarantee someone at Disney is doing or already has done the calculations.

The "move fast and break things" mantra of silicon valley is bad enough when you aren't talking about breaking a goddamn nuclear reactor.

It's chilling that this article is from October and basically lays out how the overthrow of democracy would take place - exactly what's been happening since then.

The speed at which we're descending into the dark enlightenment period is beyond alarming.

In September of last year, the podcast Behind the Bastards did a two part series on right wing blogger Curtis Yarvin, his connections to Peter Theil, and his influence on JD Vance. I highly recommend these episodes for anyone who wants to know where this is all headed.

Yarvin has, for years, pushed the notion of RAGE (retire all government employees), and his dark enlightenment movement centers on dismantling democracy and installing a neo-feudalistic system of government in which oligarchs rule as kings.

This is not some crazy new proposal that will be ignored by the people in power. This is the endgame. The oligarchs and right wing fascists Trump has surrounded himself with have been pushing this for years, just waiting for their moment.

If you don't think this is a big deal, then you probably won't realize until it's too late.

FDR was probably the greatest president we've ever had.

Fellas, is it woke to plant trees?

I was forced to get a new phone when my last one recently died, and I'm unable to restore my Sync Ultra subscription. I checked the Google play store and it's active until August, but when I try to restore purchases on both of the accounts I use, Sync tells me that it can't find the purchase. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried reaching out to the dev.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does anyone else feel like technology - specifically consumer tech - kinda peaked over a decade ago? I'm 37, and I remember being awed between like 2011 and 2014 with phones, voice assistants, smart home devices, and what websites were capable of. Now it seems like much of this stuff either hasn't improved all that much, or is straight up worse than it used to be. Am I crazy? Have I just been out of the market for this stuff for too long?

Lots of people are feeling hopeless and upset right now, and for good reason. It's normal to feel like no matter what you do, things are going to get much worse for a lot of people. Blame, despair and anger are natural reactions, but as the shock of the situation dulls, what's your plan going forward?

Call me naive, but seeing hate have a resurgence makes me want to do more to help the people that are going to suffer the most. I'm going to make a plan to volunteer more of my time and resources to help organizations that need it. I'm going to see if my friends can organize with me to sponsor a migrant family. I may not be able to do much, but my personal way of coping with shitty situations is to try to make the world a little less shitty.

I'm going to try to be kinder and more forgiving with people, and be a better role model for my kids. And I'm going to resist and fight back against hate when I see it.

Lastly, I'm going to be a more supportive friend to the people in my life. And to anyone reading this that feels like this world's gone insane, and you're all alone: you're not. We're still in this together, and I appreciate everything you're doing.
