So probably mostly for retirement. The problem is that I've been moving between counties and studying and doing stuff so I'm afraid it will be impossible to collect it from all the countries together so that I can get a normal pension, so I will have to work quite long and yeah if I'm lucky and get old then I'll be probably very poor.

I guess it's time for a preemptive strike Canada, don't wait until it's too late.

I wonder, if you're not harboring any immigrants and ICE is breaking open your door because they suspect you do, is it morally OK to start shooting to defend your home? How would you even know it's not a burglar?

No, I just moved here 4 years ago, first a business trip, then I met someone and asked to go on more business trips until I asked them to move me to the Korean office and I me and my now wife moved in together.

Do you mean living in Asia or born and raised? I moved to South Korea 4 years ago.

Nextcloud it just too heavy I totally agree, and everything feels slow and sluggish.

For just files I use Syncthing and couldn't be happier, it just works in the background without a central server just syncs the files between phones, PCs and laptops by itself. I set it up like 5 years ago when I had enough of Nextcloud and to be honest most of the time I forget that I have it, but I use it every day to sync my password database for KeePassXC, my music, my private and work documents between all my devices.

Here in Korea there are so called Kids Cafes which are basically indoor playgrounds where you pay an entrance fee. There are often quite many children different ages and we take our kids there sometimes.

The more obvious one would be just the normal public playground, check when other kids usually are there and join them. If you do it regularly you will find that there are more or less the same children there at the same time.

But the biggest problem for the child in first day Kindergarten is that their parent suddenly disappears, over time they get used to it bit even after years in Kindergarden there are days where they don't want to go :D

We practically only use the calendar, it's possible to use tasks also with it but there is no native tool for it on iOS which my wife uses so we don't use it.

I selfhost https://radicale.org/v3.html and just added the calendar to iOS as a CalDav calendar, in GNOME Calendar and with help of DAVx5 on Android with the built in calendar. And then I added it to Home Assistant too, and made a dashboard which I automatically show at 7am on the TV.

If you're self hosting other things already then https://radicale.org/v3.html or https://nextcloud.com/ offer shared calendars.

It's just a drop in the ocean, but I set up a family calendar and I put in everything I come across which needs to be dealt with into it and we both can see it in our phones and on the morning dashboard in the living room. I ask my wife to also populate it which she occasionally does. It helps to not need to keep it in your head all the time because you see it every morning on the dashboard for the next couple of days. Things like:

  • Renew child A's visa
  • Make child K write an essay on a regular basis
  • Vaccination for child A
  • Prepare for child K's school trip
  • Change bed sheets
  • Bring child K to birthday party
  • Register for child K's Summer Program
  • Go to Photo studio with child A
  • Call the bank about moving money abroad
  • Ceramic class
  • Visit grandparents

and so on. The thing is when I don't know about it then I can't even offer to take it over. This way it's also a bit more visible for both of us what the other is doing so we can share easier.

Tired of winning yet?

I've been using different software during the years to keep track of my pictures. None of them - other than Facebook - allowed to tag faces in pictures manually when the AI failed to do so. That was always very frustrating because some of the most important pictures I wanted to have there were not tagged and there was no way of manually doing it.

This is until today where this feature finally landed, I'm so excited, this will make the app much more useful. Now we could even pretend our cat Leo is a person and just tag his face manually ;)

Egentligen bodde det vara i News men det känns mer som en meme.

"The real benchmark is: the world growing at 10 percent," he added. "Suddenly productivity goes up and the economy is growing at a faster rate. When that happens, we'll be fine as an industry."

Needless to say, we haven't seen anything like that yet. OpenAI's top AI agent — the tech that people like OpenAI CEO Sam Altman say is poised to upend the economy — still moves at a snail's pace and requires constant supervision.

I just wanted to tell the story about some of my encounters with people which had low odds of happening.

In Japan they have a couple of very cool J-Rock bands like Polkadot Stingray, FREDERIK, KANA BOON or Band Maid.

I just found another one: NECRY TALKIE.

Over the years I accumulated very many services which I host myself and each of them has it's own URL:

  • 6 websites, mine and my sisters
  • 3 instances of home assistant
  • Uptime Kuma
  • Synology with photos on it
  • Matrix server
  • Firefox sync
  • TinyTinyRSS
  • Mastodon
  • PeerTube
  • PieFed
  • Immich
  • Open WebUI (for local large language models)
  • UniFi (CCTV)
  • Baïkal (Cal- and CardDav)

I'm probably forgetting some of them now and I'm planning to host more in the future.

The problem is how to remember all of those URLs or domains. I have a system how I call them, but my extended family can't really remember them.

I think it's time for a landing page. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I am looking for Davinci Resolve Studio for Linux.

On PirateBay there is only Windows and one for Mac. They don't even have a Linux apps category, only UNIX.

On 1337x.to they don't have categories for the different operating systems, but from what I can see it's only windows.

It costs $300 one time, which is a very fair price and I will pay it if it works on my computer. But because it's so much money I want to check if it really works before I move over the money.

I tried the free version and it's cool but it can't handle the files from my Sony A7C and I need to transcode all of them before editing, that takes a lot of space and a lot of time because I have hundreds of files for each project. Theoretically the paid version should be able to use my Intel iGPU which has hardware acceleration for the file format my camera spits out. This way I could use both my GPUs at the same time.

Damn this show is getting better and better! This Episode in the outside looks stylisticly svery different but yet srangly similar to the ones inside.

All the twists and turns which get revealed in the last quarter, very cool!

This episodes differentness reminded me of another one og my favorite shows which changer the style frequently, Community.

Who would have known that Ben Stiller had so much creativity in him, I love it! Can't wait for next Friday!

I'm on Arch Linux btw. and I have a RTX 3060 with 12 GB VRAM which is cool so a 14b model fits into the VRAM. It works quite well but I wonder if there is any way to help with the speed even more by trying to utilize the iGPU in my Intel 14600K. It always just sits there not doing anything.

But I don't know if it even makes sense to try. From what I read in some comments on the internet, the bottleneck will be the ram speed in the iGPU, which will use my normal ram which is a magnitude slower than the VRAM.

Does anyone have any experience with that?
