Whitewash is applied to trees, especially fruit trees, to prevent sun scald. Most often only the lower trunk is painted. In Poland painting the whole trunk is also said to help keep the body of the tree cool in late winter and early spring months and hence help prevent fruit trees from blooming too soon, i.e. when warm sunny days could promote rapid tree warming, rising sap and bloom and intermittent frosty nights could damage outer tree rings and destroy the young buds and blossoms.

Both summer sunburn and winter sun scald can cause the tree's bark to crack or die, resulting in additional stress which is compounded by insects and parasites that enter the barkless wood, an invasion that will ultimately shorten the tree's life. Tree paint or whitewash protects against this.

i can't load the site now but i remember yugop. It was unlike anything else on the web.

“Private browsing” on most browsers isn’t comprehensive or easy to use. Klar is next-level privacy that’s free, always on and always on your side — because it’s backed by Mozilla, the non-profit that fights for your rights on the Web.

i was using Focus as a quick less secure browser that doesn't break official websites. I uninstalled it after Mozilla's changes to terms of use/service.

Is Klar, like IronFox, a cleaned fork? If not, why is Guardian project serving it as next level privacy?

Theme

Considering the number of entries for the last couple of months, i thought it would be relevant to have "depopulation" as this weeks theme.

Voting process

Everyone can submit their image to this post. At the end of the week all images will be collected and shared in a new voting post wherein people can vote on their favorite image. This will be up for at least 24 hours before a winner is made.

There are no extra points to be earned, OP will decide on a winner in case of a tie.

Rules

  • Follow the community’s rules above all else
  • One comment and image per user
  • Embed image directly in the post (no external link)
  • Workflow/Prompt sharing encouraged but not required (we’re all here for fun and learning)
  • Down votes will not be counted
  • Voting and final scoring will be done in a separate post.

Scores

At the end of the challenge the image with the most votes, wins! It’s that simple :)

The winner gets to pick the next theme. As always, have fun everyone!

Man charged with health insurance CEO murder to accept $300,000 in donations

Lawyer says 26-year-old accused ‘very much appreciates the outpouring of support’ on fundraising platform

Mangione “very much appreciates the outpouring of support”, said a statement on GiveSendGo that was attributed to his attorney, Karen Friedman Agnifilo.

There's only one occurrence of Luigi. The slogan was "free Luigi", not "free Mangione".

obligatory: I do not condone violence.

I just think that his was a political act like other historical regicides. Ravaillac is a historical name, like Luigi has now become. Why avoid it?
