But the benefit of a smart switch is that it remains "always on" for remote control, and physical actions on the switch also reflects on its state at the software level.

That said, I'd go with stuff that don't need online connectivity.

The only smartbulb feature I need is dusk-to-dawn for my porch lights, and I found lightbulbs that actually have it builtin.

Good old electronics that don't depend on the cloud.

Damn, now I'll need to get this when I decide to build my first node.

Too poor to buy a car, in a country that depends way too much on it without actual alternatives.

That will help strengthen the economy if people can't afford to get to their workplace.

You remember that abomination that was Aladdin (2019)? The actor who played Jafar wasn't even scary, and IMO Jason Mantzoukas would have nailed it and made the movie a little more tolerable to watch.

No worries, and thanks for posting :)

Tiny nitpick, it would sound better in french if you wrote Fabriqué au Canada, not Fabriqué en Canada.

Would be nice if it could be set as some kind of post / comment metadata, hidden from view but there in the code.

That would make a nice Linux-based gaming PC for my kids that is for sure.

We have the support@lemmy.ca email that can be used for signup issues.

My guess is that the post was submitted with incorrect timestamp, and despite being adjusted to the correct one, it doesn't seem to be taken into account correctly in Lemmy. Maybe the post was set far into the future and it's gonna be stuck there in new until forever 🤣

(Un)fortunately, I don't see the issue on the local instance I'm on, otherwise I'd check the timestamp in the database just to figure out the root cause.

That kind of shit is discriminatory against those who especially need those discounts, who may not even be able to afford a smartphone, or even Internet access.

It's like those McCafe stickers you could collect to eventually get a free coffee, now it's all done through the McD app..

The Cursed Patch 5.22 (www.nomanssky.com)

Hi, we've noticed some server instabilities around 9:20AM (Eastern Time) this morning and it seems our hosting provider had some issues, which lasted for about 40 minutes.

We also took the time to reboot the server after the event just to make sure we're not running into other issues down the road, sorry for the downtime everyone.

Currently the instance is the source of unmoderated trolls, and the instance admin seems unwilling to take action despite multiple reports sent.

We're therefore taking the action of defederating. We'd rather work with the instance admin to keep those trolls in check and minimize the disruption before taking a drastic action like this.

For transparency purpose, you can see which instances we are defederating from by accessing the https://lemmy.ca/instances page and going to the Blocked instances section.
