I'm posting this not to start a debate over politics but just for a generalized statement so please do not come at me or try to start a debate. I do not nor have I ever talked politics for the sheer reason that everyone has an opinion and is absolutely entitled to that opinion; that's why we vote and I am not about to go at it with someone because our beliefs arent the same. I have recently had too many people flooding my text messages or DMs forcing their opinion. I even had one friend end our friendship because I politely stated I do not talk politics and I was not going that rabbit hole with her.

The fact of the matter is like it or not the president is who it is. I have worked for the federal government for 15 years and it is a scary thing right now. [Redacted] also military and we don't know what our jobs will look like in the future. We're rolling with things as they come out and will adjust as needed but a lot of things I receive or read from a lot of posts have somewhat taken me by surprise and do not wish to be apart of it.

A pair of Long Island Trump voters visited Ireland recently. I think they were in their late 60s / early 70s. It looks like the current administration will be downsizing or disbanding the organisation their daughter works at and she'll likely lose her job.

Some other changes made by this administration mean that several of their investments are losing value. So they're very unhappy about him being in power now, although apparently the rape thing and being an overall creep was never an issue.

Anyway, Id' read that people like this exist and never actually saw / heard them before. It's real folks. They don't seem particularly bright but it seems they've done well for themselves in life.

I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a federal worker.

Right now I'm working on my resume. I'm open to work, preferably in finance as I have my accounting degree. If you know of anyone hiring please let me know.

As I have mentioned before, please do not post your political beliefs as I am not interested in debates or opinions. During this time, please remember that government employees are workers at risk of losing their job. It's scary as most of us have dedicated our careers to government and government operations is all that most of us know and now will be forced to look outside for other options and start over. No matter which side everyone is one, no one wants to lose their job so please be mindful of this. Remember that government employees are humans too and it is a very scary time for most of us and our families.

Oopsy, turns out there's consequences for working to elect a demented maniac!

Elon Musk’s electric-car maker Tesla has warned that President Donald Trump’s trade war could make it a target for retaliatory tariffs against the US and increase the cost of making vehicles in America.

In an unsigned letter addressed to US trade representative Jamieson Greer, Tesla said it “supports” fair trade but warned that US exporters were “exposed to disproportionate impacts when other countries respond to US trade actions”.

According to Sharma, Musk has lost $140 billion since Trump's swearing in.

During his brief unemployment, he explored opportunities flying for a private firefighting company – and still would not rule out leaving NOAA. He remains angry that fellow veterans were caught up in the layoffs.

Veterans who have been abruptly fired from federal jobs say they feel betrayed by the Trump administration's dramatic downsizing of government.

Mind you, they have learned nothing, apparently:

Still, many farmers, who backed Trump by large margins in the 2024 election, were reluctant to speak openly about their concerns, for fear of being seen as criticizing him or because they hope the administration will protect farmers as it has in the past.

So either they still support him, they are afraid of him and therefore support him, or they hope he'll make sure his bullshit only hurts other people (again).
