So while this isn't the cause in your case, it is possible to sticky things to the main feed. It's done by admins, and for example lemmy.ca has a welcome post stickied right now:

I think it's a federation bug. That post is on https://community.nodebb.org/, which isn't a Lemmy instance but actually a different software.

Which in itself is cool! There are a few projects being worked on right now to make traditional forums compatible with activity pub. The idea being that someday you'll be able to follow and post in official support forums for things right from your Lemmy account.

But right now, it might be causing some weird federation bug. Maybe the date of the post shows up to Lemmy as sometime in the future and so it's always the "newest" post (or something similar)?

What is the actual phrase?

____ where this train terminates.

No decisions have been made on that yet, and I'm happy to discuss more about it :)

Right now, I think a rule like that might be too broad. A big part of this election is about what's going on outside of Canada, so I can see us having to make exceptions for important news that hasn't been covered by a local news organization yet. I'd prefer to set some basic rules that we can follow consistently, and deal with problem posts if/when they get posted. Misleading and inaccurate headlines would still be removed under this rule

A China-linked advanced threat group named Weaver Ant spent more than four years in the network of a telecommunications services provider, hiding traffic and infrastructure with the help of compromised Zyxel CPE routers.

Welcome!

Still mostly hanging out at Reddit but I see the writing on the wall and am trying to at the very least diversify, and hopefully make a full switch soon

This is true for a lot of the new users, despite what the memes may suggest 😄

Is there a particular community on reddit that you'd like to see more of on here?

Some brainstorming from me:

  • Ideally people do not buy more teslas
  • An initial goal would be to use the vehicle without it phoning home. Would the TeslaMate project be sufficient for that?
  • Long term, would it be possible to replace the software running on the car's console? Or would it be better to tear out the console and replace it with something else?

Alternatively, what would a recycling/conversion program look like?

Ok yep, I have the display issue as well. Interestingly, it only affects some of the equations. I'll take a better look this evening

Can you link the article so that others can take a look?

Gmail's search and filters have been annoying for some time now. This feels like an overpowered bandaid to that problem

Thórsdóttir met the boy while working as a counselor for a religious group, the Icelandic broadcaster said, before giving birth to his child when she was 23 and he was 16.

The age of consent is 15, according to the country’s penal code. However, it is illegal for adults to have sexual relations with a child under 18 if they are entrusted to teach them, with perpetrators facing up to 12 years in prison.

The father told RUV he had never seen himself as a victim in this situation, but noted that he was in a difficult place in his life and at home turned to the church group for support.

Learned about it from this post: https://lemmy.ca/post/40592484

In a global first, Richmond, Canada-headquartered fusion energy company General Fusion achieved the first-ever plasma in a reactor driven by steam.

A small business owner in B.C. is demanding answers from one of the biggest companies in the world after his Google Business Profile was suddenly disabled without warning.

Jonathan Guy, a Navy veteran who has lived in B.C. for 17 years, is the owner of Chilliwack-based Veteran Heating and Cooling Inc.

Guy used his 15 years of experience in the HVAC industry to open Veteran in 2023, and things were going swimmingly until he received a message from Google on Feb. 6, 2025

“Google unexpectedly disabled our Google Business Profile without any prior warning or explanation,” Guy told Daily Hive. “We received an email stating that the account was disabled and no longer visible to customers.

“They hold an undeniable monopoly over online search and business visibility. Let’s be honest — show me a person who doesn’t use Google. The platform has become the ‘gatekeeper’ of customer traffic, revenue, and livelihoods. So, when Google makes an inaccurate or unfair decision, it can destroy businesses overnight. This affects not only owners but also employees, suppliers, and subcontractors who rely on steady work.”

“Approximately one month after submitting our appeal with all the required documentation, we received a rejection notice. We feel the suspension and the appeal decision were made by AI because a real person can easily research our company to see if it’s real. AI assumes that the business isn’t legit.”

Nearly 1 million Windows devices were targeted in recent months by a sophisticated "malvertising" campaign that surreptitiously stole login credentials, cryptocurrency, and other sensitive information from infected machines, Microsoft said.

The campaign began in December, when the attackers, who remain unknown, seeded websites with links that downloaded ads from malicious servers. The links led targeted machines through several intermediary sites until finally arriving at repositories on Microsoft-owned GitHub, which hosted a raft of malicious files.

First off, welcome to all the new users these past few days! Please take a look at our recent welcome thread with some guides and tips that will help you get settled in:

https://lemmy.ca/post/39167034

This is the nomination thread for which song(s) we will submit to Lemmyvision 2! Please comment your nominations in this thread for them to be considered. This post will be pinned to the instance briefly, but you can continue nominating songs until March 25th (2025). You will be able to find this post in [email protected]

What is lemmyvision

Lemmyvision is inspired from Eureddision (itself a reenactment of the Eurovision song contest) which was held on r/europe some years ago, and based on the participation of national communities / instances and the delicate musical taste of their members (you!).

Every country/community is welcome to participate! The contest follows the rule of “national languages only” but regional languages are welcome too, if your community would like to feature a song in a regional language of your country, that’s awesome. The aim is to promote different languages and cultures from around the world, to share more between our online communities across Lemmy, and discover songs from lesser known artists.

What is lemmy.ca doing

Specific to Canada, here is what the organizer has said:

You’re invited to participate by sending a song in any official or regional language / dialect from Canada !

Given the multilingual aspect of your country, I’m open to multiple submissions (one for each language you’d like to represent, so Inuktitut, French Canadian, any First Nations languages are welcome) from lemmy.ca, just mention which language is linked to which submission 🤗

As such, please do the following:

  • Songs must have been released within the last year (after January 1st, 2024).
  • Songs must not be international hits (see the 'Full rules and details' link below for more context)
  • Nominate each song as a separate comment under this post. If the song contains vocals, it must be one of the 'Canadian languages' as outlined above, and you must specify which language you are nominating it under

Please nominate the songs by March 25th (2025).

I set a reminder to post a voting thread on March 25th. If I am late on that (like last year), please let one of the admins know and we will get on that. That should give us a week before the submission deadline to pick from our list of nomations.
