That thing solved with NATO oversight?
I knew NATO was a good thing. They should get more countries involved in NATO

Oh, that makes sense

Well, Tesla is a US company, as VW/Bayer was/is a German company.
The UK government took stewardship over VW after ww2 https://www.hagerty.com/media/automotive-history/how-major-ivan-hirst-and-the-british-government-saved-vw-after-wwii/
It also took bayer 30 YEARS to re-establish as a brand.

I would question VW/Bayer's "driving force" behind the Nazis. There is some amount of "well, I guess we are doing holocaust now" kinda thing.
Regardless 80 years on, an entire world war, and massive trials... I feel like they have paid some dues.
No doubt still a shitty corporation, but unlikely in support of actively firing the people maintaining the nuclear arsenal, thinking internment camps are efficient (and they still have a "DEI" page https://www.volkswagen-group.com/en/diversity-and-inclusion-16087 (although their single mention of LGBT+ has an asterisk next to it which doesn't seem to reference anything))

fElon owns a social media company. He is frauding governments, engineering the collapse of social support programs and science, gaslighting/propaganda-ing the population/government (felon controlling the government: https://truthout.org/articles/aoc-pharma-reforms-had-almost-unanimous-house-support-until-elon-musk-tweeted/ or https://www.forbes.com/sites/gebai/2024/12/31/blame-the-game-or-the-players-regulating-pharmacy-benefit-managers/ ) while his party engineers book-~~burning~~banning, science denialism, creating lists of trans people (non-conformants), detaining people based on political opinion, and is starting a very aggressive trade-war.
Never mind the drugs fElon is on.

So yeh. There are lessons to be learned from ww2.
There are still companies around from then, and they have changed.
There are probably more scientists working for the US then there are Nazis working in the EU.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Paperclip
But all that shit is documented. And now we can call that shit out a few weeks into the issue instead (hopefully instead) of having a big world war about it.

I would say cudos to VW and Bayer for being able to still be companies (respectable companies?) after being such a part of the nazi war machine.
Same with Hugo Boss. And Fanta. And BMW. And Kodak. And Siemens. And IBM. Even the Associated Press self-censored their news. Oh, and Ford.
https://historycollection.com/10-famous-companies-collaborated-nazi-germany/

I hope we have learned. I hope Tesla is a lesson to other companies. I hope America is a lesson to other countries.
Punish that shit behaviour. Burn that shit. Don't let it start again

Just buy from the EU.

Yes, but...
The same could happen the the EU, as with any foreign power.
It's unlikely as the EU is fundamentally built differently. But it could, no doubt a country that wanted to push through their adjenda by exploiting loopholes that haven't been discovered/exploited because of "decorum" could still happen.

Buy source-provided.
So, you get everything you need to maintain the platform with the purchase cost.
If you want updates and improvements, they have additional cost.
Like so many software licencing models. 1 year of updates - except it's source provided.
It's more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Renew your licence every year for another year.
Stop paying? You get to use the EJ69 fighter jet platform as it was in 2019 for as long as you can manufacture parts for it.

Or you could buy the cloud-hosted fighter jets. And risk the off-switch. But it's less upfront cost, higher long-term cost

There is so much free good-pr on the table at the moment.
But glad to know they aren't local-washing (I just coined this term. I hope it doesn't become a real thing)

Sleeping on an airport bench for your 2 week business trip knowing you're getting fired when you get home

Go fascist, meet actual long term damaging effects.

Not got the same ring to it, but it's not an empty promise.

Yeh, but purple shirted eye stabber tells you how it is. He's honest. And quite frankly, nobody has stabbed any eyes around here for ages. Maybe it's time to try some eye stabbing.
I'd vote for him.

Ah-ha-ha. That's even sweeter schadenfreude

The majority of Tesla "recalls" have been OTA updates that happen automatically. They get called a recall due to historic laws.
This is actually a physical recall, considering panelling is falling off. So is a lot more expensive for Tesla. Lol
