Nationalization without compensation, of course, because it's a national emergency.

Would CIRAS's anycast DNS be useful here?

Which works out here because it's literally 03-03.

But ISO-8601 is an international standard, by the International Standards Organization, to remove this very confusion.

Its like the SI / metric system.

At least get on mstdn.ca

Use ISO-8601 date format: YYYY-MM-DD (Its way better!)

LOL. Third from last is LNG (ie. Liberal + NDP + Greens). I don't think such a coalition would be pro LNG (liquefied natural gas).

I really like the play on words GNU did with Mozzarella.

Thank you for the links!

I've used flatpaks. I've never used snaps (I don't want to support proprietary Canonical stuff). I prefer getting stuff from the Debian repo.

I get that. It's just your comment made me realize I should self host my sync server.

Trying to move away from FireFox.

I know that there is LibreWolf and GNU IceCat.

What are the pros and cons for each?

I tried GNU IceCat and I don't know how to install extensions. How to get extensions for GNU IceCat? Is it easier on LibreWolf?

I need the following extensions:

  • ublock origin
  • send to MPV player
  • privacy badger
  • Distraction free youtube
  • Unhook
  • LeechBlock NG
  • Privacy Badger
  • Tab Session Manager
  • KeePassXC-Browser

The login interface only allows login with mastodon servers.

My only account is this lemmy.ca account.

Will it be possible to add login options for lemmy and other activity pub server software (e.g. friendica, peertube, etc)?

Hello All!

Thank you for using the Ottawa sublemmy. There has been a significant growth in users recently and I would like to recruit some new moderators for the community.

I would also like to have a francophone be a member of the mod team.

Please reply if you're interested, will then reach out over DMs.

Edit:

What the role will be:

  • Minimal commitment
  • Be present on the forum
  • Remove content that doesn't abide be rules set for the sublemmy

So far, the community is running well without much intervention, I suspect more eyes will be needed as new people come in.

Also, having a francophone would allow the same policy be upheld for both official languages.

I am looking for a stainless steel insulated bottle. Preferred size is 500 mL.

The nearest store to me sells Hydro Flask.

I would like some other recommendations.

Some of my own research so far: Hydro Flask is owned by Helen of Troy (Nasdaq: HELE). I have come across Klean Kanteen, they seem like a good company but I'd have to ship in because it is not in store.

Ideally I'd like to support a company that is a co-operative or B-corp and not owned by a conglomerate traded on the Nasdaq/NYSE.

Obviously Canadian is preferred if possible.

Just as the title asks, where is lemmy.ca hosted?

I have flagfox installed on my firefox.

It tells me that lemmy.ca is hosted in Washington state. Link: https://iplookup.flagfox.net/?ip=208.87.97.51&host=lemmy.ca. I'd like to know if this is accurate.

Ideally I'd like to have the data be hosted in Canada and hence under Canadian law as opposed to US law.

I'd also be interested in hearing other opinions on this.

I cannot see posts from lemmy.ml. I only see a few but not a lot. When I go to https://lemmy.ca/community/2573, for example I don't see any posts however when I go to https://lemmy.ml/c/embedded_prog, while not logged in because I don't have an account on lemmy.ml, I see posts. Is it just me or is it an effect of federation?

Happy International Workers' Day. Also known May Day.
