The article shouldn't be implying. It's part of his platform.

Could you go to your Ministry of Labour about this?

I was able to literally 1 hour ago.

I changed my DNS from Next DNS to CIRA Canadian Shield (Protected) to test it out.

Then I was only able to connect to the internet through Mulvad VPN.

Then I changed back to Next DNS and I observe the same behaviour.

How do I determine what is causing the problem?

How do I solve it?

Same as above:

Can I create a CNAME record to point a subdomain to a webpage e.g. blog.example.com -> example.com/blog?

I would also like to know if I can do this to point subdomains to webpages on different websites.

e.g. bluesky.example.com -> bsky.app/profile/example.com

It is though. That is the literal definition of opportunity cost.

Trying to move away from FireFox.

I know that there is LibreWolf and GNU IceCat.

What are the pros and cons for each?

I tried GNU IceCat and I don't know how to install extensions. How to get extensions for GNU IceCat? Is it easier on LibreWolf?

I need the following extensions:

  • ublock origin
  • send to MPV player
  • privacy badger
  • Distraction free youtube
  • Unhook
  • LeechBlock NG
  • Privacy Badger
  • Tab Session Manager
  • KeePassXC-Browser

The login interface only allows login with mastodon servers.

My only account is this lemmy.ca account.

Will it be possible to add login options for lemmy and other activity pub server software (e.g. friendica, peertube, etc)?

Hello All!

Thank you for using the Ottawa sublemmy. There has been a significant growth in users recently and I would like to recruit some new moderators for the community.

I would also like to have a francophone be a member of the mod team.

Please reply if you're interested, will then reach out over DMs.

Edit:

What the role will be:

  • Minimal commitment
  • Be present on the forum
  • Remove content that doesn't abide be rules set for the sublemmy

So far, the community is running well without much intervention, I suspect more eyes will be needed as new people come in.

Also, having a francophone would allow the same policy be upheld for both official languages.

I am looking for a stainless steel insulated bottle. Preferred size is 500 mL.

The nearest store to me sells Hydro Flask.

I would like some other recommendations.

Some of my own research so far: Hydro Flask is owned by Helen of Troy (Nasdaq: HELE). I have come across Klean Kanteen, they seem like a good company but I'd have to ship in because it is not in store.

Ideally I'd like to support a company that is a co-operative or B-corp and not owned by a conglomerate traded on the Nasdaq/NYSE.

Obviously Canadian is preferred if possible.

I'll repost a comment I made before again here:

If you have half the population each have 1 investment property. You must have the other half renters. You literally want to create two classes. Those with investment properties and those with no property. One class above another. You’re just using billionaires as a shield. You want to put yourself in a class above other people.

We should all work so that each person has one home.

And the “I don’t want to work until I die” should be covered by social insurance/social security instead of making someone else a renter.

The original press release from MIT news is here: https://news.mit.edu/2023/using-ai-mit-researchers-identify-antibiotic-candidates-1220

Paper the press release refers to: https://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/153216

The lab this is being worked on: https://www.collinslab.mit.edu/

The paper as listed on the lab's website: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5c264953620b850c9fb03732/t/658331812865e60a33af40ea/1703096709558/nature_wong.pdf

The audacious project: https://www.audaciousproject.org/grantees/collins-lab

I think we should cultivate a habit of linking to the original material

You contradicted yourself. Op can't get a starter home but the starter home he would have bought is held hostage by the "smol" landlord. Pick one.

Just as the title asks, where is lemmy.ca hosted?

I have flagfox installed on my firefox.

It tells me that lemmy.ca is hosted in Washington state. Link: https://iplookup.flagfox.net/?ip=208.87.97.51&host=lemmy.ca. I'd like to know if this is accurate.

Ideally I'd like to have the data be hosted in Canada and hence under Canadian law as opposed to US law.

I'd also be interested in hearing other opinions on this.

I cannot see posts from lemmy.ml. I only see a few but not a lot. When I go to https://lemmy.ca/community/2573, for example I don't see any posts however when I go to https://lemmy.ml/c/embedded_prog, while not logged in because I don't have an account on lemmy.ml, I see posts. Is it just me or is it an effect of federation?
