Sometimes we have those little epiphanies in the shower.. sometimes they come from other places. This is a home for those epiphanies.

Everybody knows what needs to be done. Parenthood needs to be sustainable for the parents. There's just no political will to implement a policy that will only start paying off in 20+ years. Every politician kicks the can down the road, or implements half-hearted policies.

Edit: Just realised I posted this to the wrong instance comm 😅

Boss Hogg was a corrupt politician and a main character. I don't remember much beyond that. But my memory is that the Duke Boys were escaping persecution from local state actors.

Side note: I was a little kid and my friends in pre-school thought the car could fly, which broke my brain when I couldn't articulate that it jumped.

I think both sides of the aisle would love it, he wouldn't have to go to stupid meetings or handle anything, and he would go out with a huge fan base.

You're an old dude with plumbing problems, why are you still working?

As the title says, this popped into my head while walking to my home being showered with subzero frozen rain.

Modern english is just an creole language of 5 different european languages and made super easy to mix the conflicts between those languages. Thats why its so easy to learn for most people.

My social media environment (mostly Lemmy for the last year, after I left Reddit) is very leftist. I'm finding myself floating more and more left because y'all have a point and there's not many counter-arguments in this social media environment. I sometimes wonder if that's how MAGA folks feel--floating more and more right because that's what they're surrounded by.

Of course, my floating is (naturally /s) based on reason and leftists making good memes/arguments.

Anyways, that's this morning's introspection.

Side showerthought: my convictions are based on memes. Anyone have nice, accessible resources for giving those convictions a more solid base? I'd love something like a graphic history of leftist thought (similar to Queer: A Graphic History). Something approachable but with citations. Thanks :)

If 2024 was the year of "age verification" let's build on this success and make 2025 the year of height verification. We must develop a consensus about where to draw the line, so that we can finally say "you must be at least this tall to use social media."

You just need to go around the world fast enough that it's always one time.

In a hundred and twenty or thirty years or something, the dollar will have inflated by 1000 times, so a billion dollars then will be equal to a million dollars now. It'll cost a billion dollars for a nice four bedroom house.

But we'll have had a hundred more years to produce anti billionaire propaganda, so a lot of people, especially teenagers, will need it explained to them that being a billionaire isn't so bad now. The Marxist-Leninists will all be saying that Cyborg Bernie Sanders is an evil billionaire, and us reasonable leftists will be explaining that a billion dollars is just what it costs these days to own a residence in your home state and also in DC, which is necessary for working as a senator.

What we'll really need to look out for by then is the trillionaires. Good for nothing parasites. There's no excuse for one person to own a trillion dollars while there are people living on the streets who can't even afford a measly ten thousand dollars for a cheeseburger meal.

Few hips would be articulate enough to convey any precise message, which would be necessary to lie. Hers have the speed and precision required to formulate lies, in morse code for example.

Like, you can see a leaf on and think "wow, that's a beautiful leaf". You may even pick it up to admire it (especially if you're a child or a biologist). You wouldn't do that with a strand of human hair, a human nail clipping, or even less with the parts that aren't supposed to come off like hands or eyes.
