I mean, we have quite literally been shitposting since the dawn of civilization. All we are doing now is outsourcing the shit component to an algorithm.

Here's some evidence of that (mildly NSFW):

This is dated from 207 or so. It was found near Hadrian's wall. And it isn't even noteworthy because every bloody where you see Roman graffiti with this sort of shitpost.

Technically true, though I think a lot of low-effort/beginner art actually wouldn't be bad enough to qualify as slop. Artistically more like oatmeal. I would say slop doesn't even have a punchline, it's just pointless for viewers.

Human-made slop probably is something produced en-masse to exploit some sort of system to make money, like the whole Elsagate thing (disturbing brainrot content on youtube kids).

Ai slop is so the humans can justify getting hired to vet the outputs of the dumb systems, because they can't do it themselves.
