Summary

Donald Trump signed an executive order rolling back transgender and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies, reversing key measures introduced by Joe Biden.

The new order declares the federal government will recognize only two genders and bans agencies from promoting gender transitions.

Federal documents, prisons, and agencies must comply.

Trump also targeted environmental justice grants and diversity training programs.

Civil rights groups condemned the move, pledging legal challenges.

Personally, if it's my rights vs being a part of a genocide I'm ready to get my passport revoked.

It's not like I had money to flee the country, and my retirement plan was already to die in the water wars.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I'm sure your ideological purity is a great comfort to my son who has just been legally declared a woman.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I got my name/gender markers updated a few years ago.

The Democrats lost the election due to a combination of their support of Israel (and corresponding economic impacts) and their terrible campaign/no primary. If you're looking for people to blame they're not on your left.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

My son. He's a transman. Trump declared him legally a woman yesterday.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh, that's a confusing way to put it then. I don't put much stock in what the federal government 'declares', their proclamations don't mean it's reality.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You've got to be fucking kidding me. It means good luck getting a passport or any other federal documentation with your actual gender on it. It means drugs and medical treatments that are approved at the federal level for gender transition won't be available anymore. It means if you live in a state that isn't friendly to trans people, you are going to suffer.

So it means trans people are fucked. How do you not know this?!?

And it's not like the issue with Palestine is better under Trump. We had the choice between a candidate who would at least try to put pressure on Netanyahu... and one who will happily do whatever is asked of him by extreme evangelical Christians who believe Israel needs to be dominant in the Middle East so Jesus will come back.

How the fuck does anyone conclude that the Democrat is bad in comparison to that?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why is your son's gender identity more important than the thousands of children being slaughtered in gaza

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Another Trump supporter, eh?

[–] [email protected] 37 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So you chose being part of the same genocide and additionally the future genocide of LGBT people in America. Are you fucking joking?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I voted for the non-genocidal candidate (PSL) tyvm

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Trump won by more votes than all the third party votes combined. Third party votes had zero impact in my state too.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You voted for Trump.

You could have voted for Harris, worked hard to convince others to vote for Harris (who instead chose not to vote), and done everything else in your power to prevent Trump from coming into power. You didn't. So you voted for Trump. That's the reality of a two-party system.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So you voted for Trump.

No I voted for Claudia de la Cruz

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Like I said: Trump.

Again, two-party system. Your implicit vote for Trump didn't count quite as much as an explicit one would, but you still put your weight behind him.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yes, you are absolutely engaged in them, which is understandable as you don't want to shoulder the burden of understanding the role of people who voted like you (or didn't vote) in Trump's ascension.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's a rotten system, it's going to produce rotten results

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yup, so best to let the fascists take over.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

To be clear, I'm not advocating inaction or hopelessness or anything like that. I'm just expressing the sentiment it's not realistic for a government designed to represent slaveowners to be reformed into working for everyone.

I'd encourage other trans people to join/start local groups and find whatever community you have where you live.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago

It's called game theory...omg you people are insufferably stupid!!! The other guy is right. You supported trump by voting 3rd party.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Now you're complicit with the upcoming genocide of trans people but go ahead and enjoy that warm fuzzy feeling you have from saving Palestine from Kamala Harris.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me

This time around it's started with Palestinians, democrats acting helpless to stop the genocide (while actually arming it). It does not fill me with confidence that if LGBT people became a political liability that democrats wouldn't unite with the republicans on our extermination too.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Solidarity with the Palestinians or any marginalized group doesn't mean I have to allow bad things happen to everyone else.

We don't vote Democrat because they inspire us or we love them, we vote democrat as a form of overall harm reduction.

In virtue signaling your opposition to Israel's genocide, you've enabled American genocide of trans people, that's how you know you fucked up.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Except they don't know they fucked up and never will. This is right wing thinking, no matter how much these people protest the allegations.

Progressives don't get stuck on nonsense. Progressive choose progress over regression and learn from mistakes. This person does not have those qualities.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 months ago

If it's your rights. Fuck me if mine gets caught up in it, since it's "for the greater good". Right tankie?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Can you share a news article reporting that the genocide has ended? I must have missed that.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

the ceasefire is holding as far as I've heard https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/live-blog/israel-hamas-live-updates-rcna188301

it's at least one day without Gaza getting bombed so far I think.

obviously this doesn't end here and the settlers are now ratcheting up things in West Bank instead.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

breaking it in gaza didn't take long either

Paraphrasing, I said I don't consider my rights inside an imperial war machine to be worth sacrificing others for, even if they're on the other side of the planet. I didn't mean to imply that the genocide was ending as a result of that.
