This organization is conservative oriented and advocating against tax auto filing to keep H&R Block and similar rent seekers in business.

Stand strong and in favor of tax auto filing to reduce fraud and waste - there is no reason the government shouldn't estimate our taxes for us.

I don't know if there's a specific push for it right now but it's something constantly and trivially within reach for Canada. The pressure from these fuckers is constantly fighting against it.

There was some discussion of autofiling a couple of years back, but I haven't heard anything serious.

IIRC it's one of those things Trudeau mentioned but didn't follow through with.

There was (is?) a pilot project including randomly selected taxpayers with extremely simple tax situations where they had autofiling.

Is it running? I tried to find info about it a few months back. I'm not clear if it ever got started.

Would love if they did this, I really only usually need some small medical deductions for meds and other stuff like that. Should be able to do all that in CRAs web app
