I’m a bit fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and really anything John Frusciante or Josh Klinghoffrr
Who the hell dislikes RHCP??
You would be surprised. They seem to be a very love them or hate them type of band. They were pretty wild in the early days too (pre cali), so had some bad press during a lot of the me too/cancel culture thing.
I’m a huge fan of Frusciante. Like he’s basically the reason I learned anything on guitar.
I do, I remember I once hitchhiked across Europe and my ride put on Stadium Arcadium. I almost died. And when it was over, the real surprise came. It's a double CD.
I think RHCP is the best musical example of 'Awful taste, great execution' (for me). Good musicians, but it makes my fucking skin crawl.
Been listening to more of them recently, and songs like Dark Necessities have been stuck in my head lmao
I miss when RHCP was funky.
Yertle the mf'in turtle
I legit have videos of my kids reacting to that song and stopping, freaking out and dancing their toddler asses off.
That kid had a case of toddler rock
For sure. It’s one of those I would love to share. But I have a thing about not putting my kids on the internet.
What? They're still funky, always have been.
They definately have phases. Like By the way was clearly more 50s , Beatles and do wop insipired than funk. Klinghoffer were definately less funky overall too, except dark necessities did have a few solid tracks.
Yes I see what you're saying, but the bass on all of their albums still has slap and funk to it. I guess a lot of it is what the other musicians are doing and how Keidis sings the song. Go Robot is funky as heck. I love that song.
Edited because Gboard is getting stupid all the time lately
Agree. So is Sick Love. Same with their recent albums, which are much more funky than even Dark Necessities.
Nah. Hard disagree.
That's like... anytime between 1982 and now
Untrue.
Freaky Styley is a fucking great album! I don't recall the track with George Clinton as lead singer though, do you mean that if you want me to stay demo?
OK, I think I understand what you mean, for me it sounded more like George Clinton was a background singer, but you can definitely hear him louder in some parts. Thanks for posting those sources, I think I'm going to listen to P-Funk now.
Nah, most of us appreciate both. Both are great
I don't think RHCP are widely disliked. They've been at the top of radio playlists for decades, they're incredibly popular, and they sell out major venues every time they tour. RHCP is bad ass. Anyone who dislikes them probably also dislikes being happy.
