For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

So - yeah, let’s not press Elon too much.

It seems like he literally enabled a fascist government and hurt tons of citizens with irresponsible firings. He can and still perhaps should be hated for that.

There are more people in the world enabling fascist governments than those who are not.

Those systems he hurt are supposed to be able to survive this. If it's not an improvement, then it's a test.

Thats like saying we should let attempted murderers go free because it was just a test.

The difference is that government agencies require regular shakeups. It's normal. It's not normal for them to just keep existing without those.

I don't think you'd say the same about me taking a sledgehammer to your head. That's what Elon did to a lot of agencies.

Oh, and he's not enabling a fascist government. He is the fascist government.

A person and an agency are not comparable.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Brother, if you take away the money and the people from an agency, what's left? Nothing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Except killing an agency you might not kill a single person, while killing a person you kill a person.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Or you might kill hundreds or thousands, because the agency was crucial for ensuring safety standards. But Elon would never kill such an agency right?

Anyways, you're not getting the point. If I remove the most vital parts of an agency, it's not an agency anymore. You can't just go "uhhh, maybe it's a bad agency if it doesn't survive massive cuts", just like you would not blame a human for not surviving severe damage.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

OK. It's not what I meant, rather that all state institutions should be "nomad formations", so to say - possible to kill and build again in a couple of weeks without touching the rest. But that's probably off topic and I'm just too nervous a few last days.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

,yeah that's wishful thinking. No such agency would ever be useful.

A bureaucratic structure knowing it can't be replaced is actively harmful.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What nonsense excuse is this? “There’s other bad people out there too, so don’t condemn this one?”

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's not nonsense, the degree of badness matters.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Okay, by bypassing regulations and illegally shutting down agencies instantly instead of sunsetting them to give time for nonprofits to fill the gap, Musk caused the death of tens of thousands of people who relied on food aid and lifesaving HIV meds. His degree of badness is worse than most people in the world.
