During a Tuesday hearing at the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the DOJ urged a three-judge panel to issue an emergency stay of a lower court order and allow the Trump administration’s deployment of the California National Guard to continue in Los Angeles — going so far as to argue a president’s federalization of militia can’t be second-guessed by the courts, even if the chief executive mobilized forces from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., simultaneously.

That's fascism, folks.

Arm yourselves.

Also, maybe don't do something dumb like vote 3rd party or abstain from voting next time around. Y'all were warned. Now it's happening.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Look, if the only plan to stop the fascist uprising that has been building for decades was "win every election forever", then there was no fucking plan. This shit was going to happen at some point.

Stop scolding people for not falling in line with you and start figuring out what to do next.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Nah dawg. I'm going to scold dumbfucks that checked out or voted for a candidate that could not, under any circumstances, win, allowing a felon rapist traitor and his treasonous party to bring fascism to our nation.

Because they deserve to be spoken down to. Because they're idiots. Because they chose to place their perceived moral superiority over the wellbeing of our country.

They were warned. Now it's happening. Defending them is not exactly an intelligent thing to do.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 12 hours ago

What's really unintelligent is rehashing grudges over and over again and further alienating exactly the people whose help you need to fix this mess. But what do I know?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

"Arm yourselves" and liberal vote-scolding in the same comment. Incredible.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Maybe you shouldn't arm yourself. You're not very smart.

And yeah, I'm going to scold the dumbfucks that chose to place their perceived moral superiority over the wellbeing of their country. Because they deserve it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago

Oh, I'm armed and I train. I even train other people! I won't train genocide apologists or any other flavor of fascist though.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

liberal vote scolding

Oh have you guys come up with a cute name that lets you dismiss it easier?

It isn't just liberals that are pissed at people like you, and your characterization is bullshit.

Unless the new definition du jour of "liberal" is "someone who was able to understand their own electoral system enough to vote for Kamala Harris instead of handing power to literal fascists"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Have you losers come up with a plan to win elections?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Have you come up with a plan to do something other than whine like a little bitch while presenting no solutions whatsoever?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago

If you read back through these honestly, I'm sure you see which of us comes off as whiny. Also, best I can tell, your solution is to build a time machine, and go back to November and yell at people even harder.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What do you think the goal of elections is? Just to "win"? This very post demonstrates military force against our own citizens--are you ok with that? I think it's something we should all be opposing.

We're all losing when we lose fundamentals of our democracy and our right to protest.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It's ironic of you to ask me what the goal of elections is. As far as I can tell, democrats worship the status quo and civility. I used to think that democrats didn't utilize political power when they had it, because that would be "tacky" or something. Now I've seen enough to realize that they don't really want to change anything. If you keep voting for people like that, what can you possibly hope to achieve, aside from just to "win"?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

democrats worship the status quo and civility.

I like those things. Those are both better than fascism. Wish the dumbfucks that abstained from voting or voted 3rd party could understand that. With how much you're pushing back and whining, I'm assuming you're one of those dumbfucks.

Spoiler Alert: The 3rd party candidate with the most votes was magician Jill Stein, who magically appears right before every election, then magically disappears again afterwards. She got a whopping HALF OF A SINGLE PERCENT of the total votes cast.

So unless you're braindead, you'd realize that America is nowhere near being over this 2-party thing. So voting 3rd party is FUUUUUUUUCKING STUPID, especially when one of the options is a FUCKING FASCIST.

You want more parties? Get off your fucking ass and help one start winning local/state elections so they can start actually having less than zero members in Congress so they can maybe one day run a presidential candidate that can win.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 12 hours ago

The status quo is fascism. Civility with fascists is fascism. Your team gives the impression that as long as the bad stuff happens overseas or in poor neighborhoods, and you aren't forced to look at it, then all is right with the world. You're upset because a few million people refuse to cosign terror and genocide, while I'm upset that hundreds of millions are so willing.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's ironic that you're lecturing "democrats" on worshipping the status quo while parroting the current right wing status quo propaganda. If you ignore what the media says, and instead look at actual votes (congress.gov) or watch congressional sessions on cspan, it should be very clear that a good amount of democrats tend to be the ones trying to govern, while the right wingers are constantly sabotaging everything they do in the name of corporate profit, then blaming dem's for the fallout from whatever shitty thing the right wingers did instead of what the dem's wanted.

Can't tell you how many times I've watched dems lay out thoroughly researched, thoughtful plans on policy, or thoroughly explain how the policies the far-right implemented are screwing working-class Americans, only to have some right winger passionately "rebut" their arguments with complete nonsense, get their 5 second media clips, then sit down and stare at their phones not paying attention until it's their time to talk again.

Everything they tell you dem's are doing, they're the ones doing it. And now they're telling you that what I'm saying is what OUR propaganda is telling us. It's all bullshit. I've been watching the behind the scenes stuff for almost 10 years. It's been this way the entire time. And btw, I started doing this because I used to consider myself a libertarian until I started noticing the lies. Particularly how the party of "individual freedom" fought so hard against same sex marriage (a freedom heteros have, that every INDIVIDUAL of legal age should have). I bought completely into the propaganda and didn't realize how far I was from understanding what was actually going on until I really started questioning everything. I hope you can muster the intellectual honesty to question things in a similar way.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Newsflash: the republicans fucking win with their bullshit. A major component of politics is connecting with people. You can connect with lies and you can connect with truth, but long, technocratic explanations rarely. Like it or not, sound bites win elections.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, that is the current paradigm we live in. I would argue that it's this way because of how effective the right wing propaganda machine has been over the last 4.5 decades.

So, you're saying lies and propaganda are cool as long as your team keeps winning?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago

No, you've misunderstood me. You can't enact policies if you don't win, right? And you won't get reelected if people feel you bullshitted about your promises. So first step is winning, right? As I said, there's different ways to win, including lying or telling the truth. Has nothing to do with being "cool" or not. I'm just saying that dem messaging sucks, and their track record sucks.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

What about all the votes that were lost, removed, not counted? The way the elections, gerrymandering and more, Its all rigged.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Oh right, blame the voters in a rigged election. Makes total sense.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Yup. Until they take responsibility for the impact of their ego stroking and try to do anything at all to help, we're not going to let the people just shy of collaborators forget it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ironic since the Democratic party not supporting ranked choice voting is its own ego play. They just can’t stomach the idea of there being more than two parties. Same on the right. Unfortunately this centrism has resulted in the status quo.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ironic since the Democratic party not supporting ranked choice voting is its own ego play.

No. It's a control play to try to maintain power (including wealth inequality). Egotists are involved but they're different things.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How is “I want to maintain power” not an ego play?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 23 hours ago

It's something that egotistical people might do but, they might also lie about the importance of their job or pay people to follow them around in an entourage. Not all egotists are as power hungry as politicians frequently are some want to be loved and adored.

The motivation matters and, while those that lust for power generally are egotistical, egotism itself isn't usual the reason.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Especially when so many continue to double and triple down rather than just accept that they fucked up.

At least the "Arabs for Trump" folks did a pretty much immediate about face. Still awful that they existed in the first place, but at least they had the wherewithal to walk it back when reality hit them.

So many people here just refuse to, and will call your progressive beliefs into question because you don't bury your head in the sand like them

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago

Yup. Every time I'm critical of the idiots who didn't vote or voted 3rd party, the downvotes let me know those idiots are still out there, not grasping that they're idiots. There's a lot of them on Lemmy.

They fucked up. On some level they know it, but they're not big enough to admit it.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (5 children)

They were too small a group to appeal to, now they're solely to blame.

Which is it?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do you read "take responsibility for their impact" and then jump to "solely to blame." I swear people just hear what they want so they have a reason to be angry.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Are they to blame, or are they small enough to ignore?

Which one? I get that you want both. But you only get one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I'm curious as to why you think you have the kind of authority in anyone's life to tell them they have to decide between two dipshit choices you present them.

These dumbfucks made an incredibly stupid decision, whether they ended up being too small a group to make the difference or not. They're still dumbfucks that chose their own perceived moral superiority over the wellbeing of their country.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I’m curious as to why you think you have the kind of authority in anyone’s life to tell them they have to decide between two dipshit choices you present them.

Choosing both is logically inconsistent. I get that you hate progress and anyone who opposes genocide and want to ignore them so you can move to the right and have your genocide. That's disgusting, but fine, if you want to choose that, it's all centrists do. But if you do it on the grounds that the people you hate for not being republican-adjacent enough for your liking aren't a big enough group to matter, you don't get to act like they matter after the fact just so you don't have to stop moving to the right.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Found the 3rd party voter I guess.

Actually, yeah. A lot of people voted third party and many more stayed home. I will blame them.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What can your party do to appeal to them next time?

Hint: it's not "jettison marginalized groups" or "move to the right." That got us here.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You mean saying "I would do nothing different from Joe Biden" wasn't enough to sway voters to vote? Wow what else could she possibly have done?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago

Running on the endorsement of Dick Cheney and promising to appoint a republican to her cabinet, naturally.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Thank God we avoided that, right? Right?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I would have thought eating the same gruel every day would have prevailed over eating saute shit a la fascism. As it turns out, Americans aren't good at binary decision making and some like to be imaginary revolutionaries.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (4 children)

You have the electorate you have. Appeal to them for the first fucking time or keep losing.

same gruel every day

Enabling, protecting and funding blatant genocide?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Purity politics have enabled more than one genocide, thanks to the non-voter.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

enabled more than one genocide, thanks to the non-voter.

If Harris had ditched the genocide funders in the last weeks of the election she'd be president right now.
