So in Chinese traditions "10000" is just a stand in for "really big number". Kind of like how, at least here in the states, well say "there's a million of them". Not that there is literally 1,000,000 of the thing, but more there is just a lot of them.

Hey guys i have been using Navidrome to stream my music from my server and its been amazing. I primarily use YT Music because of discoverability so I have all of my "primary" playlists (about 8 of them really, but supporting a somewhat arbitrary limit would be nice) in YouTube.

Im looking for an automated way to download the music and keep my navidrome instance updated with a couple playlists. I started working on some Python script to handle it, but its just not working super well so i would prefer to use someone elses solution haha.

Anyone have any good recommendations? I tried this one but I couldn't actually find the music and it seems to only support one playlist at a time. It would also be nice to download the album art and set some ID3 tags too

Hey guys one of the things I miss about reddit is communities like r/Conservative or r/conspiracy, not because I agree with really anything they say there, but because it's a challenge for me.

It's really easy to say "no you're dumb and wrong", but I like going down rabbit holes so I will take the bat shit insane stuff they say and find actual sources to refute them. I know it won't actually change any minds but it's fun for me.

I know theres @[email protected] but that is basically just non-conservatives making fun of conservatives. And I have not been able to find any good conspiracy theory communities on Lemmy at all.

Any advice?

You can literally just download all of Wikipedia in one go from one URL. They would rather people just do that instead of crawling their entire website because that puts a huge load on their servers.

don't let them catch you, you WILL lose your job

Hey director of IT for a trucking company here, i just want to reiterate this part!

Don't fucking do this. Any of this advice. You WILL lose your job and we WILL blacklist you from the industry for this shit. Maybe if you drivers could actually mange your fucking log books and follow the safety regulations we wouldn't need to have ELDs and camera and GPS and fucking canbus monitoring and annual inspections and all of the other """invasive nonsense""" the government requires.

I dont want it either. Its all crazy expensive, annoying to manage, and I have to constantly deal with drivers complaining about it.

Sorry. I'm a little upset with this issue because its a constant issue i have at work. But no there is nothing you can do besides just get another job.

I just want to reiterate it again. Do NOT mess with the equipment your company has in your truck. At best you'll just get fired but I've seen my company respond with legal measures in the past.

I honestly don't really see the problem here. This seems to mostly be targeting scrapers.

For unauthenticated users you are limited to public data only and 60 requests per hour, or 30k if you're using Git LFS. And for authenticated users it's 60k/hr.

What could you possibly be doing besides scraping that would hit those limits?

I tend to have some more free time on Sundays so I was hoping to start making some nicer and fancier diners.

I'd say I would have about 90 minutes or so that I could dedicate to prep time (or if it needs prepped the night before like a marinade that's fine too) and pretty much as long as it needs for cooking too.

What's your favorite meal to make on your weekends?

Custom Feeds (lemmy.world)

I used to use Boost for Reddit and one of my favorite features was the custom Feeds.

Is there any plans to bring those back? Or am I just missing it?

I (straight male) think a woman smoking a cigarette is really really hot. Like it turns me feral when I see it.

I have to constantly remind myself that is just marketing from cigarette companies haha

they are serving up major Ls for trump.

Are they tho? Cause to me it seems like trump is floundering and the DNC has spent the last 9 years doing fuck all about it

Hello all, I am looking to start getting back into RSS feeds but nothing Ive found so far matches all of my requirements so i was going to see if you guys had any advice.

My requirements are:

  • Self hosted (preferably with an official docker container)
  • I should be able to view it in the web, as well as with an Android app but it doesn't have to be a first party app
  • It has to look nice and modern, preferably with a dark mode option

Anything you guys know of that would meet all three of those things?

Currently my plan is to run FreshRSS as my aggregator and FeedMe or Focus Reader on Android. I don't really have any plans for web viewers though

My dad (long time conservative but can't get on the trump train which is good at least) thinks that "tax the rich" means people like high end doctors and surgeons. People who are absolutely in the top 1% but like "has a nice weekend car and maybe a lake house" not people making millions of dollars per month or week (or more)

This. To be clear I have absolutely no problem with furries existing and I believe anything less than letting y'all be would be tantamount to treason.

But God damn I just cannot understand it. I don't get it. And it weirds me out.

Like I said, I would actually fight to defend your right to wear your fur suit out in public. But I'm also going to make fun of you because man it's just weird.

Although I did have a coworker (I work in IT so this isn't actually that surprising) who was a furry and he tried to meow at me one time when I called his name. Don't do that. That was weird. Just tell me what you did to fix the computer man.

In my experience doctors can have some of the absolute worst opinions. Especially highly educated speciality doctors who have spent 1/3 of their life doing nothing but studying their very specific field. Lawyers too.

I work in IT and they can be some of the worst users to work with.

Because I read the article I actually know the answer! It's the first time this technology has been used in a human, and it's been a huge success so far. Quote from the article

The BiVACOR total artificial heart, invented by Queensland-born Dr Daniel Timms, is the world’s first implantable rotary blood pump that can act as a complete replacement for a human heart, using magnetic levitation technology to replicate the natural blood flow of a healthy heart.

Yeah the kid got like a $400 fine and told not to do that again. I think that's a fair punishment for doing something really really stupid as a teenager.
