Reptiles also aren't humanoid. This is just a form of abstraction that you have to accept. Otherwise their whole existence doesn't make sense

That could be cool. What would also be cool, in the same vein is if it was mimicry/imitation. No, that’s fish and amphibians. Reptile eggs are enclosed by a soft shell and they get fertilized by doing the hanky panky.
