It needs to have a 0* tier with Clinton, Reagan, Grant, Harding, and maybe a couple others. And then the huge gulf and then Trump up top.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 32 points 10 months ago

Nixon, also.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

Andrew Johnson was the only President before Clinton to be successfully impeached. And if there was anyone who fucking deserved it...

Well Nixon accepted a pardon therefore he's guilty by definition. So he should be at least at number two.

[–] OldWoodFrame@lemm.ee 28 points 10 months ago

There were 3 articles of impeachment drafted against him so that's probably the number to go with. Never got tried in the Senate because he resigned, never got prosecuted because he was pardoned.

However...the pardon was for "any crimes he might have committed" and per Burdick v United States an accepted pardon is a confession of guilt so technically Nixon has confessed to an unlimited number of crimes.

Guilty of a felony yes, but technically not convicted

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

That's why I said put him at two.

Needs to have a non-felony conviction spot for U. S. Grant.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Instead of referring to him as 45 I'm just going to call him 34.

Eisenhower could stand to be knocked down a peg.

What did he ever do for America? What, because he was instrumental in the alied victory in Europe, spearheaded the national highway system and oversaw desegregation that he deserves some kind of medal?!

[–] Burninator05@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

That's all well and good but what has he done for the US lately?

[–] absentbird@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Apparently so.

Just find a list of us presidents?

[–] Zehzin@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's just all of them. We need to do a war crime tier list

[–] FreudianCafe@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Everyone is S tier, and theres SS tier for the 2 bombs in japan

[–] Zehzin@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I dunno I think the two Bushes and Reagan deserve a higher score than the average. Selling illegal arms to Iran to buy cocaine from Nicaraguan fascist militias is a pro gamer move like no other.

[–] Kaboom@reddthat.com 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Remember, war crimes isnt an issue. Improperly recording hush money is.

[–] absentbird@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago

They're both issues, but only the latter is a prosecutable offense in our current legal system. They should both be, but that's not the current state of the law.

[–] xantoxis@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

Well it wasn't for lack of trying on the others' part.

[–] sudo42@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

Can we replace Trump's picture with the one from his booking? He seems rather proud of that one.

[–] LilDumpy@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Is there a way to compare this to a similar chart, but with number of impeachments instead of felonies?

[–] julianh@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

Spiders Georg

[–] masquenox@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Yet all of them were war criminals.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

C-C-Combo Breaker!

[–] TheControlled@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I'm basking in this as much as everyone but it isn't like many of the other presidents didn't do worse things and or were even worse people.

Those things being corruption, human rights abuses, and genocides.

Trump is guilty of, and has been accused of, dismantling democracy and being a corrupt piece of shit.

But don't let me spoil the fun 😁
