I'm unreasonably upset you added a "u" to iqeland.

IDELAND: Where people go to bitch about visual studio.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 8 months ago

Also they have very dated hard drives.

[–] zurchpet@lemmy.ml 39 points 8 months ago (3 children)

In german the letters are even closer.

Irland -> Island

Only one letter further.

Also in Icelandic!

[–] Dalvoron@lemm.ee 6 points 8 months ago

In Ireland it's Éire, while Iceland is An Íoslainn, so it doesn't really work 😕

Not in Dutch however. There it's IJsland and Ierland. You'll have to go through several more character shufflings to make it.

Let's also go the other way:

Ibeland

If you go east enough eventually you hit Ikealand.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

We actually prefer "Scandinavia"..

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

You guys eat licorice willingly, I don't think you have a (missing IKEA) leg to stand on.

[–] Aedis@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago (1 children)

What do you have against licorice?! (also American licorice is crap) Try this:

LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW - Læmon - 10.4 OZ - Soft Licorice Swirled in Luscious White Lemon Chocolate, Cream and Vanilla https://a.co/d/9bCxy5A

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Just teasing, I know (and love the passionfruit) Ladkris but you tend to give foreigners Djungelvrals lmao.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Djungelvrål are delicious!

For a people who fetishize both bacon and capsaicin, Americans sure seem scared of the strong stuff when it comes to salty liquorice 😄

By a continuation of this logic Izeland mislabeled on my map as "Spain"

[–] LEONHART@slrpnk.net 8 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Onward, men! Full sails to the horizon! On my oath, we'll make it to Ikeland by morning!

Oh, there will be Ikes as far as the eye can see, I tell you! Tall Ikes, short Ikes, God-fearing Ikes! Our coffers will overflow with the abundance of Ikes!

You who would doubt me, who would claim the impossibility of such a paradise, you cowards who hide from ambition and surround yourselves with the petty offerings of Steve Island or David Cove, why you would not know how to handle the Ikes of Ikeland!

But I am a man of greater mettle, and I will know this new land.

Raise the anchor. The Ikes await.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

I like Ike.
