TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Trial began Tuesday in Florida for four activists accused of illegally acting as Russian agents to help the Kremlin sow political discord and interfere in U.S. elections.

All four are or were affiliated with the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement, which has locations in St. Petersburg, Florida, and St. Louis. Among those charged is Omali Yeshitela, the 82-year-old chairman of the U.S.-based organization focused on Black empowerment and the effort to obtain reparations for slavery and what it considers the past genocide of Africans.

They’re gonna put Trump on trial right?

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago (4 children)

IMO: The Russiagate hoax was a hoax, similar to the Tulsi Gabbard and Jill Stein smears and many others.

It would be really interesting if a duopoly ex-president can be sent to trial and jailed; it would open it up for our past and future presidents being sent to trial and jail as well. It would be awesome if they were sent due to war crimes!

The guy who said "Russia if you're listening hack Hillarys emails" never colluded with Russia? Interesting take.

Trump Derangement Syndrome aside, I say to pay more attention to the Uhuru III trail taking place in Tampa, Florida.

This owner-class article should give you the status quo talking points and basics.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Does the tenet media indictment give you any pause?

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I am critical of a lot, especially MSM and government.

indictment give you any pause

The history of dissedence, our civil rights activists, and many more has something to do with my views on this.

My views may change a bit when I check independent journalists and independent media, as well as owner-class media.

Word of the day, for me!

tenet /tĕn′ĭt/ | noun

  1. A doctrine, principle, or position held as part of a philosophy, religion, or field of endeavor.
  1. Any opinion, principle, dogma, belief, or doctrine, which a person holds or maintains as true.

IMO:

Thanks for another owner-class media article.

unwitting right-wing American influencers

"Far-right" and "Far-left" American influencers.

I wonder which journalists in MSM get propped up by the owner-class; it seems many like to follow the status quo, whether they are "left" or "right" leaning.

Federal officials have accused Russia of using unwitting right-wing American influencers in its quest to spread Kremlin propaganda ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Tenet was founded in 2022 by Lauren Chen, a conservative Canadian YouTuber, and her husband, Liam Donovan, whose X profile describes him as president of Tenet Media. Chen hosts a show on Glenn Beck’s BlazeTV and is a contributor to right-wing activist group Turning Point USA. She wrote opinion pieces for RT in 2021 and 2022.

What sets the RT operation apart from many other interference efforts is that it appeared to reach a real audience, thanks to the recognizable names attached.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, many American cable distributors dropped RT’s U.S channel, RT America, from their lineups, and it eventually shut down production. The video scheme allowed RT to covertly reach American audiences without a presence on the airwaves, the indictment alleged.

“There was no influence exerted over me in that way. There's no change in my perspective or the nature of my content,” said Matt Christiansen, another Tenet Media contributor, in a livestream on Wednesday evening. “How am I unwittingly duped into saying someone else’s words when I wrote every one of them?”

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

If you're just gonna dismiss every media outlet because you don't like the words they use, read the indictment. Tim pool and Dave rubin and friends are literally russian mouthpieces no matter who says it.

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

Edit: added sentences below quote

If you’re just gonna dismiss every media outlet

I am not dismissing it, I am just pointing it who funds and controls them.

Billionaires and corporations continue to buy up media.

Tim pool and Dave rubin and friends are literally russian mouthpieces no matter who says it.

They say this about the "far left" and the "far right", I am critical of these talking points.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, they accuse them because they spew russian talking points all the time. This is different because they discovered that the company that pays them was actually founded by 2 RT employees. Literally. Actually. Russian. State. Funded.

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

All four are or were affiliated with the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement, which has locations in St. Petersburg, Florida, and St. Louis.

The defense attorneys, however, said despite their connections to the Russian organization, the actions taken by the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement were aligned precisely with what they have advocated for more than 50 years. Yeshitela founded the organization in 1972 as a Black empowerment group opposed to vestiges of colonialism around the world.

IMO: These are just more status quo fascists pushing for censorship of dissent, using another excuse to limit our first amendment rights.

[–] Bernie_Sandals@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

This the Jimmy Dore that you think is a "lefty"?

[–] ravhall@discuss.online 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Crimes seem to be in the eye of the beholder nowadays

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

IMO: Political tribalism, to be more exact.

The owner-class and their lackeys will get away with much more when we compare the working class being sent to jail, 13th Amendment and all.

Thirteenth Amendment

Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.^[[1] https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-13/]

[–] ravhall@discuss.online 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Just gotta make that servitude “voluntary,” with debt.

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (2 children)

True.

IMO: People bash China for their alleged "Social Credit System," but in the US we have a credit score system and many other government agencies that are there to collect our data; it all seems like wishful thinking while also following the status quo talking points, so the American people don't pay attention to what our politicians and those in power are doing to the working class.

[–] ravhall@discuss.online 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Well, in the US it’s all about how likely you are to repay your debt. Not, like, how many times you heil Xi or avoid eye contact with Pooh bears (I joke) (or do I?)

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

IMO:

US it’s all about how likely you are to repay your debt.

Yes, playing the game how they want you to will keep you in the safe area.

Not, like, how many times you heil Xi or avoid eye contact with Pooh bears (I joke) (or do I?)

If you follow the free speech news and the political tribalism in the US, you would see that we do not differ that much with the China calims being said.

It seems like every day we get closer to what negative things we say about other foreign nations.

Check out which independent journalists have been detained and which are being censored.

Can you help us out with a few names in recent years we can read about?

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

government? LOL! Its way worse. Corporate!

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

Corporations always give a backdoor for our angencies.

[–] YeetPics@mander.xyz 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

Hang em high. These fuckers deserve all of the best short rope and long fall.

Also: OP,can you stop saying "IMO". It's your comment.. we already know it's your opinion.

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

This trail is a major breaking point for the American Empire, another Russiagate people continue to fall for.

I suggest to also check out independent journalists and others you do not agree with, just to push your bias a bit.

Also: OP,can you stop saying “IMO”. It’s your comment… we already know it’s your opinion.

hahaha, I was making sure, can't be too safe on lemmy.

For they came for the socialists.

[–] TechNerdWizard42@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

Land of the free! Free speech. Freedom of press... No wait, not like that! Only free to say and print the propagandist perspective.
