Yes, but what about [single political issue here that Trump is as bad or worse on]?

Clearly this means we should vote for [candidate least likely to win but most likely to split the vote of the non-fascist party]!

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 79 points 5 months ago (1 children)

"As an upper-middle-class white male, I just don't like politics, so I don't vote."

Fuck you, you selfish little pricks.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 30 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I vote now.

I don't think I was selfish before ... Just ignorant and/or sheltered.

I don't think I disagree with your point, but the messaging is unlikely to convert many non voters.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 24 points 5 months ago (1 children)

tbf, if they're on a politics com and bragging about not voting, chances are that they're pretty far from where you were at if you were just ignorant and/or sheltered.

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 16 points 5 months ago

Well... You're not wrong.

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I'm just yelling at the choir on Lemmy, I believe. With my actual friends, especially married ones with daughters who say this stuff, I approach it differently. "You always tell me you disdain deadbeat dads, but not voting is another form of failing your daughter. You should be a champion for her rights man, not sitting on the sidelines trying to play nice with 'both sides.'"

"You see, if fascism wins, then socialism will magically win next. It's a law of nature, like a pendulum. It Is Known."

[–] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 70 points 5 months ago (4 children)

It seems obvious, but half the country thinks Harris controls weather machines and hits Florida with hurricanes for some reason. They show up and vote, because they believe this nonsense deeply.

Please acknowledge the threat and act accordingly. If you are in a swing state, please vote for the rest of us. Your vote matters so very much.

[–] callouscomic@lemm.ee 29 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's not half. It's a minority in this country. It SEEMS like half cause the electoral college is a moronic system.

there was an interview where a woman said something to the effect of "they're controlling the weather and letting the hurricane hit red districts because they can't rig the election otherwise". like yeah hacking motherfucking weather is somehow easier than hacking ballots.

I’m pretty sure she was responsible for convicting felons.

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 21 points 5 months ago

Oh she made people felons alright

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 15 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Mostly black people.

Not like there's an unclear choice when you Americans vote soon, but pleas don't forget that part. Most two party elections are choosing the lesser of two shit options.

[–] turtletracks@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 months ago

Sometimes they get carried away and forget the Democrat party is still a right wing party. I'm not happy voting for Harris, but I'm happy voting against Trump (or even happy voting for Walz)

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 5 months ago

Incorrect.
She's got a shitload of those.
She's just on the delivering end, not the receiving.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 46 points 5 months ago (3 children)

And yet, here we are. How is this even a choice?

[–] timewarp@lemmy.world 16 points 5 months ago (13 children)

Her unwaivering commitment to genocide and corporate donors, flip flopping on major issues and her gratification of Dick Cheney

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 35 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Everything you said is Donald trump. And he's a convicted rapist, insurrectionist, conman, serial liar and everything else in the image. Again, how is this even a choice? Or do you consider chocolate and shit equivalent?

Isn't revising your positions when you get more information or change your morals a good thing? I hate the villainization of changing your views. It's such a childish understanding of the world where that's a bad thing. It's probably part of why our society is so divided now. We've used "flip-flopping" as an insult, so anyone who ever admits they did something wrong or changed their opinion must be a bad person. In reality the opposite is true. Admitting fault and growing as a person is a virtue that should be rewarded.

Both your posts just sound like someone whining because they can't have it their way; in this case, apparently your complete inability to direct the conversation is the problem. Which would imply you're whining at yourself...and you really are. It's rather nauseating to be honest...

Because conspiratorial thinking has flourished, creating a whole set of fantasy worlds to believe in where anything can happen as long as it proves you were right all along when you were an asshole.

This is a real hard chart to follow... Are both sides the same??

“Someone that clean has to be dirty”

— maga, probably

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 23 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I have literally been told that, about myself, by conservatives. This was while I was in The Navy, and holding a Top Secret security clearance. They didn't approve of their daughter dating a "hippie." (That was their descriptor not mine.)

Another thing that gets no attention is that she is one of the few members of congress who didn't invest in individual stocks but just does index funds to prevent conflicts of interest/insider trading. I really wish democrats would do a better job of contrasting Trump's corruption with theirs but then again I guess they gotta pick something and run with it.

$100 billion in weapons for Israel to keep the genocide going

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 28 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Trump wants to end the Palestine resistance the same way he wants to end the Ukrainian resistance.

[–] MisterScruffy@lemmy.ml 18 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Doesn't change the truth that Kamala is in power right now and she is currently using that power to make sure a genocidal leader keeps getting everything he needs to continue committing genocide.

Stop pretending that the candidate you're endorsing isn't a monster

[–] PorradaVFR@lemmy.world 24 points 5 months ago (1 children)

She is Vice-President and does not make foreign policy at the moment and has been quite specific about protecting both Palestinian and Israeli lives as her position on the issue.

Her current role is advisory, the President decides actual policy and her's as President would be exponentially better than Trump's.

[–] MisterScruffy@lemmy.ml 11 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

She has repeatedly said that she would not put conditions on arms to Israel and that her position is the exact same as Biden's.

I don't care that her position is merely advisory, she's in a position of power and she's using that position to run defense for a genocidal regime.

With power comes responsibility and I'm holding her responsible for what she does with her power

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 5 months ago

Stop pretending that the candidate you’re endorsing isn’t a monster

"But she's the monster I prefer! How dare you?"

Humans are not so great, and I won't miss them when they're gone.

I understand that. It's just that I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. Can we please stop killing innocent people? Thank you.

[–] Blueberrydreamer 9 points 5 months ago

That she has absolutely no control over. In case you've forgotten, she's the VP, and has no fuctional control in the government besides casting the tiebreaking vote in the Senate.

But do go on shilling for Trump, I'm sure he'd be proud of your obvious disinterest in truth.

[–] Plastic_Ramses@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Gonna be honest here.

I do not give a shit. Not a single shit.

Sounds boring.

Personally, I think the world needs major powers with a bit more crazy to 'em. You really wanna live in a world where you go to bed and wake up to the same thing? Selling nuclear secrets is the spice of life.

Edit: Really? I honestly thought I was laying the sarcasm on a little thick. Whatever. lol

TBH violently participating in the injustice system is a financial fraud and treasonous grift on americans.
