oh thank god, you have no idea how long I've been waiting to know who Barbara Bush is endorsing

[–] [email protected] 72 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I don't think you're the target audience of Barbara Bush or People magazine

For a younger, moderately conservative woman who sees Trump for who he is, this sort of endorsement can give them cover to vote for a Democrat

[–] [email protected] 29 points 5 months ago

I don't think anyone on Lemmy is the target audience.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Wouldn't this also make her the first of the Bush family to endorse Harris?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Considering Bush Jr is huge friends with the Obamas, this isn’t surprising. Corporate America and its dynastical representatives stick together. Does any Bush endorse Trump?

Even Cheney endorses Kamala, this should be a huge warning sign to any leftists.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Obama was a dynasty? I must’ve missed those other Obama elections.

riverSpirit is a time traveler and forgot that Michelle wasn't elected yet

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago

That, or he's an idiot.

Leftists will already know that the democratic party leadership are conservative to vaguely center at best, hardly anything new

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

True but many Libs think of themselves as leftists, more directed at them.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

It’s about getting out the vote.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Why y'all hating on this woman cause of who her dad is?

[–] [email protected] 49 points 5 months ago (2 children)

All hands on deck. All who denounce nazis are on the team. Those who refuse their help are not.

We'll see where we're at after you all vote so that kamala wins.

[–] generichate1546 16 points 5 months ago (3 children)

I'm at least one anti Trump vote in Florida...(Harris and none of the federalist judges, ) I'm trying to turn the tide

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago

Thank you for your efforts. I’m in GA and proudly voted for Harris. Doing my part as well, one week will tell if it made any difference.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago

One in Ohio. (And a pro Sherrod brown vote as well). I want my state to swing instead of my body

all hands on deck for a pro-fracking genocider ?

vote 3rd party specially if you are in deep blue or a deep red state. both trump and harris are scamming psychopath. don’t let them get away with murdering thousands of children.

this election must depict that we had enough of bullshit.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I expect if her positions were completely reversed, you'd complain about those too.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

an absurd comment to prove how indefensible this farce is.

she hasn’t even given a hint of reversing her position, only demeaned it with moronic statements like this

you should introspect your own beliefs system rather than giving baseless take on others.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 5 months ago (2 children)

This US election is not about who wins, but who doesn't win. Project 2025 is an attack on democracy and fair elections as a whole. Want to argue about actual political issues? Vote blue. Want to fight for fundamental rights the next 4 years? Vote red, 3rd party or just don't vote.

Using a 3rd party vote to protest the system is saying you're choosing between equal evils. Saying a convinced fellon, insurrectionist and known fascist is an equal evil as a person with actual reasonability and literally zero negative qualifications just proves you have the moral compass of a sand dune.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

we don’t have a democracy. majority of Americans and almost entirety of dnc voters are against genocide in gaza and fracking. yet harris has been very much in support. forget support she has been actively participating for a year and removing anti-israel speakers from her rallies.

after obama, we became “one party two candidates” system where they run gaslighting campaign every four years and do what lobbyists tell them to do.

and wtf on bringing moral compass on not wanting to vote for a genocider who has only spit on poor people in her entire public service. question her and the dnc for choosing corruption and dead children over their voters and fight against facism. they are the one who don’t care about getting trump elected because their gravy train will keep running. infact pelosi will have to pay lower taxes on all that insider trading she has been doing for decades.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

You want to call something a farce? Thinking the US has more than two parties is a farce. We can hate on it all we want but the fact is that your 3rd party vote will only help the GOP.

Political differences is how elections should be fought, this one is about much more than that.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (6 children)

3rd party is not farce. if your self-respect allows you to vote for them then good for you. mine doesn’t.

Project 2025 will be implemented regardless of who is president fyi. The court system is captured by fascists and the executive branch can't stop it. Vote for Kamala if it makes you feel good tho

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I mean, Trump is openly promising to wreck American democracy and use the military against protestors on American soil at this point. There's a lot of problems with Harris, sure, but to say they're the same is to admit your own ignorance.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

they are not same but dnc has become evil enough for it to not matter. you can check the other comment thread on why a vote for dnc is not a vote for democracy.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

You named two issues. Granted, they are big issues, but they aren't as big as Trump openly promising to turn America into a fascist state.

Before people bash her because of her dad:

She is doing this

She spoke out as pro-gay marriage

She also headlined a Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Texas.

She seems to keep her politics quiet, however these public displays land her on the right side of things. I don’t know her and don’t care one way or the other what side she’s on, I just want to be sure she’s getting a fair assessment without her dad’s shadow hanging over her.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I agree, makes no sense to hold someone accountable for other people's views and actions, if she's willing to stand up for her own views that's all it takes.

Shit! She's 42?!? Who hit >> on life? Fuck I'm old.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 months ago (1 children)

If Kamala doesn't get the Dubya endorsement I am not voting for her. I only listen to the worst of war criminals for political guidance.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Kissinger is dead; will you accept Cheney?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago

The equivalent of "Is Pepsi ok?" in American politics

[–] [email protected] 14 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Kamala all excited about support from republicans.

It’s creepy.

The war criminal dick Cheney also supports Kamala.

I don’t think the democrat candidate embracing republicans is the look y’all blue maga folks think it is.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 5 months ago (5 children)

Try to figure out what phrase you used that outed you as an idiot.

I agree stranger. Appealing to the right doesn't seem like the smart way to win this election but I hope I'm wrong.

Who is this for? They're acting like getting endorsements from the families of Bush and Cheney is like getting an endorsement from Ronald Regan, but Bush and Cheney were not popular at the end of their administration; they started two interminable wars and ended with the largest recession in recent history. Trump cut his teeth in 2016 by trashing George Bush and curb-stomping his brother in the primary. Conservatives who are still open to Trump probably aren't huge fans of the Bush family! All this is doing is demoralizing the progressive base and showing conservatives that the kind of Republicans they rejected in 2016 support Harris.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This stuff does get traction with the late election cycle undecided voters. Obligatory undecided voter sketch from SNL.

Fucking cowards are waiting until enough votes are cast in early voting.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 months ago (3 children)

What do you mean?

They'll face the same consequences whether they step up now, or before early voting.

Presumably, they think early voters are not undecided, and that this is the right timing to have the best impact.

Why are you hating on her? Cause you don't like her dad? That's fucked up. Stop sowing Division within the left with this "nobody is good enough for my side" bullshit
