Shut your Pi-hole! My daddy had ads on the TV, and his dad had ads on the radio, and his dad had ads in the paper! I proudly allow ads and tracking!
I wish there was a way on Pi-hole to block those ads on TV yt

This has never happened to me because I’ve been blocking ads for the last 15 years.
People who complain about ads on the internet are such a weird concept.
Why experience ads if you don't want to?
Because ads don't ask for your consent.
Sure they do, I've revoked my consent by installing an adblocker I haven't watched a video ad in probably 8 years.

Ads are a bit mind-rapey
And you have the agency and ability to either pay for the service or investigate other means of avoiding them. Complaining about them is just annoying.

Tubular also works pretty well
My favorite experience in this regard was watching YouTube on xbox (i know, i know)... They played a 40 minute redbull "ad" on a five minute video. In what sane world should ads be 8 fucking times longer than the content?!?!1?
I had a similar experience on my YouTube TV app, I was watching old history channels in bed, and there was a full length documentary for an "ad". I could have skipped after 15 seconds or whatever, but I had to INTERACT with the TV before it would resume. I was distracted so it ended up playing like 15 minutes of an hour+ documentary ad.

As another one has said, try tubular! It's newpipe but with sponsor block integrated.
So it just removes the part in the video that they talk about the sponsor? I've never heard of such witchcraft.

Corporations are a protected class of people.
i find using freetube keeps Ernie calm.
I wish using freetube kept Ernie calm, but it just doesn't work half the time. Invidious has the same issue. Which is significantly more annoying than just using YT, which Ernie has uBlock Origin for.

So far, every comment bar one has mentioned ad blockers.
You lot are as original and creative as the numpties making comments about the size of the pilot's balls on aviation videos.
This is a post about unnecessary rage that absolutely noone has to deal with because everyone should use ad blockers. OP may or may not know, but the post suggests the later. I dont see how it is 'unoriginal' to comment about ad blockersin that case...

The fact that almost everyone is saying the same thing is pretty much the definition of unoriginal.
It just shows what the focus lies on. A post full of comments recommending adblockers has far more impact than a single comment making the post seem dead.
Youre technically right that it is unoriginal, but I dont see how originality would matter at all in this case.
The one that worked in a pun was alright. This is the fediverse crowd though, this is very on-brand.
Oh, this is exactly what I expected. Perhaps not 100% ad blockers, but I was expecting most of them to be like that.

Wish you could block ads from embedded youtube videos in Discord.
I just copy and paste the link into my browser. Lets me make use of sponsorblock that way.
Just out of curiosity, what do yall expect to happen when the only response to an ad supported free tier of something, is to block the ads? I know YouTube/google aren’t great companies, but when you run an ad blocker you also deprive the creators you love watching any revenue from your view. So you hurt the creators. If you can afford it, just sub to premium and stop acting like you’re entitled to everything for free. I despise ads just as much if not more than the next dipshit, but complaining about them, when there’s myriad ways of avoiding them, just makes you sound like a dingus.
Obligatory shout out to Nebula as a cheaper alternative for non-fiction/edutainment content.
Or alternatively, run and adblocker and literally give the creators you watch 1$ per month and you're still supporting them 100 times more than turning on ads would, and you still get to keep some semblance of privacy.

Most creators have patreons. The big ones take sponsorships also. The pittance they get from any ads I may have watched do not matter.
