My sexual preference is Bassist, Bassist, Bassist.

[–] Doodleschmit@lemmy.world 28 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Bassist here. This is already more attention than usual.

[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Impossible to know what percentage more since can't divide by 0 ;)

[–] Funkytom467@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

So three bassists?

I propose to you one of my fav album, SMV, for Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller & Victor Wooten :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf1fca_EWJg&list=PLG0VwCADigUCPqobFZW8PNtcoF8BbHLd_&index=9

I think my favs are Thunder, Pendulum and Los tres hermanos.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ooh, this was great! Thanks for the rec.

As an ex-drummer, I enjoyed how stylishly understated the drums were. I used to enjoy leaning into a mock rivalry with bassists, the humour of which was partly anchored in the deep solidarity of being rhythm-section

[–] Funkytom467@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

My pleasure.

I'm a amateur bassist, so in the mock rivalry I'd say this is showing how much of the rhythm-section bassists can fill ^^

And we can also do some dope harmony. I love the jokes about how bassist are translators between drummers and guitarists.

Victor Wooten has lessons on YouTube where he does emphasize that a lot.

oh shit I am a little ashamed I didn't know this existed but I am way more happy that I have this to treasure for the rest of my life

[–] Funkytom467@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, It's a one time thing they did so it went under the radar of lots of people. Also why I shared it, glad I made you happy <3

Its more likely than you think.

[–] anindefinitearticle@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Pinkie representing pan makes sense. Her balloon cutie mark is the pan flag.

Twilight's mane is the bi flag. Yet she's shoehorned into ace in this meme.

Rarity is the graytones with purple of an ace flag.

Dash is the rainbow flag.

AJ is the red/orange/yellow of the lesbian flag.

Fluttershy is also a pony, but not a pride flag. Maybe she's just supposed to be straight. I've seen her pink and yellow shoehorned into the purple and yellow intersex flag back when futashy memes were big.

The spa twins are the trans flag.

[–] joenforcer@midwest.social 13 points 2 months ago

It's also a cartoon for children.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Fluttershy

Monster fucker. #FlutterCord

[–] anindefinitearticle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You mean the only pony in ponyville brave enough to live right on the edge of the everfree forest?

The one wandering into the woods to massage the bears and mediate the dragons?

No way, she would be too scared. She is too shy and quiet to do something like that.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

She IS very good at masking her depravity.

Or just empathetic enough to recognize the beauty and capacity of love within all flora and fauna.

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 months ago

As an AroAce person, very relatable :3

[–] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This reminded me of the "All or Nothing" drama from Tumblr, holy shit. IYKYK

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 14 points 2 months ago (3 children)

My search-fu is failing me, mainly because there's a film and TV show with that name dominating results.

Can I get a TL;DR?

[–] VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 4 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Does anyone like 1-hour video essays, though? (I mean appreciate it vs nothing, but as a blanket statement...)

[–] Breadhax0r@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I watched a 4 hour essay about the star wars Disney hotel...also I think there was a 3 hour one about how awful star trek Picard was.

[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Disney hotel one was with that weird chick and she's great. 10/10 would blow away my time on that again. However, YouTube is filled with literal garbage.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

that weird chick and she's great.

Jenny Nicholson, for anyone interested. There's an equally long one about a failed permanent Renaissance Faire that's a real trip, too. Almost all of them are a fun diversion, really.

[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah she's hilarious. Weird isn't a bad thing, but...I mean just check out her channel. Plush spider episode? 🫥

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Also an unexpectedly fun trip. "Weird and great" is pretty accurate for the channel!

[–] rodneylives@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Both were great, but both also took me a week to get through, a piece at a time.

[–] VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

For me - not necessarily for concentrated viewing, but I can deal better with some boring tasks when I have something in the background that keeps my brain occupied, be it a podcast, a long video essay, or whatever else.

[–] frayedpickles@lemmy.cafe 1 points 2 months ago

Agreed on background

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 4 points 2 months ago

I can watch two of those per workday, on my bus commute to/from work. Usually end up watching history documentaries instead (currently going through a 6 hours one detailing the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, gonna be an interesting week)

[–] Mac@mander.xyz 3 points 2 months ago

Yes. I watch essays even longer that that.

The longer the better. All videos should have a minimum length of 1 hour.

[–] TRBoom@lemm.ee 10 points 2 months ago

Took a quick look and it appears a group of people wanted to shoot a live action series with similar trappings as the OP picture. They did a kickstarter for 5k and were unable to deliver on that budget.

This is from 30 seconds of research, so grain of salt and all that.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

My sister was born first so I think she just took all of the attraction genes in the dressing room and left me with crumbs.

[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemmings.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Lmao I meant the genes that determine how much attraction you feel towards people (she is pan and I'm ace), but she probably took most of the attractiveness ones too.

[–] PlainSimpleGarak@lemmings.world 2 points 2 months ago

Haha either way, I was just goofin'.

[–] Realitaetsverlust@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 months ago

Both are valid and a very clear sign that I should stay away from either of those

[–] BothsidesistFraud@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (3 children)

So the BIPOC girl has to be the sex crazed one? Can we not please.

[–] Cool_Name@lemm.ee 16 points 2 months ago

You're the one calling her "crazed" not the artist.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

I’m in camp YEA but both of them seem pretty cool to me. I’d be friends with both. Neither deserves this shade you’re throwing!

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What the hell is BIPOC? Go outside

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (3 children)

In case you've actually never heard of it, BIPOC is the respectful way to refer to the global majority (black, indigenous, and people of colour) and is widely used not just across the internet but in professional settings and in general the world. It has nothing to do with someone "trolling the internet" too hard/needing to go outside. Talking shit on the label is akin to talking shit on people who identify with any of the 2SLGBTQ+ labels.

[–] michaelmrose@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If + covers and more why are we adding 2S also although the particular culture referenced is unique as they all are its not clear 2S actually references a different type of sexuality different from intersex and or bisexuality and the acronym was already unweildy as fuck.

There are so many different aspects to sexuality it seems silly to try to abbreviate. Also if you add enough letters you'll eventually cover anyone not completely boring.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not gonna go into all the details about colonial history and present day issues in Canada because that's a huge topic and something a person needs time to digest and be open to learning, but in short, Canadians use 2S in front of/as a part of the acronym as a way to recognize and honour the oldest and one of the most marginalized and at-risk groups of people in Canada (two-spirit Indigenous individuals).

That being said (as you can see from my other comments) I often switch between using 2SLGBTQ+, LGBT+, queer, and many other forms of the acronym. It's a personal choice and I'm not going to dictate how other people refer to the community. I'll also note that the term 2SLGBTQI+ is the official term in my country (again, we include the 2S in the spirit of reconciliation)

[–] michaelmrose@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Meanwhile other folks are how adding 2S or just 2 to the back end. I vote for Q+

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 months ago

I've never heard of it but sounds dumb. Why does everything need a label and why group up people of color under a label like that

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

For the same reason that lgbt+ people use self-chosen labels, it forms a way for us to bond and find community in primarily white environments. We have different lived experiences (to white folks) and sometimes it's nice to find people with similar experiences to your own and that understand things from your point of view, labels can help with that.

Besides the world already labels us based on how we look so why can't we use those labels to recognize each other and find unity in that.

Do you think it's dumb that LGBTQ+ people group together for community (along with other purposes)?
