Fake. Only neckbeards use 4chan

[–] [email protected] 61 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Anon never mentioned their gender, so it can also be real and gay.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I knew a girl that went on 4chan.

She didn't seem to understand that trolling doesn't work IRL and that was kind of her entire persona, It was like babysitting an adult. You'd hang out with her for her own good, so the world wouldn't attack her. Then one day my friend and her broke up and that was that. NFI. Don't even remember her name, just how weird she was.

I'm just gonna put this anecdote out there:

When I first started dating my ex, I wanted him to play through some Dark Souls to see if he had any determination. He failed completely and whined a lot, but I kept dating him anyway. Nearly 5 years later, I ended up leaving him, and a big part of it was his defeatist outlook and complete lack of willpower.

I'm not saying being bad at Dark Souls is a red flag, but I think girlie would be justified in getting out now.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I've 100%'d all 3 souls games.

Can we date (As an experiment)? I suspect dating someone with the obsessive qualities to do this is also frustrating.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I've only 100%'d DS1, so I'm pretty impressed by your ability. I'm not obsessive enough over most of the franchise to get 100%, namely because there's sections of DS2 and DS3 I don't love replaying, but I love DS1 to death so I wanted to have the Dark Soul achievement.

Anyway, if you wanna shoot your shot dm me, just know you gotta be cool with bussy.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Bitch, I don't care what colour your snatch is, but you better be stacked like the Asylum Demon.

Lay down some soapstone for me and I'll drop into your ass like I start that fight.

When I'm done with you, you'll be begging for NG+

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (3 children)

4 real people read that and thought "great!"

Did he try finger but hole?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Y'know it was another one of his failings, not really? He was very big on railing me, but not super big on lubing me up properly with his fingers first.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sounds like a selfish dick, glad you kicked him to the curb.

Though 5 years? That's a long time to put up with that nonsense, you must have a very strong sense of loyalty.

Sounds like he dodged a bullet

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago (5 children)

I don't think he dodged much, that was the issue.

But here's the thing - I didn't enjoy dark souls when I tried, but I do enjoy other games that are very difficult for me and where I need to be determined to win

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

That's fair, and that's why I stayed with him for 5 years after watching him ragequit after losing 15 times to Asylum Demon. I was hopeful that it was just him bouncing off the game, and I also assumed he'd have other moments where he could show me what he was worth under stress. He never did, and eventually I became fully responsible for the both of us.

Like I said, being bad at DS isn't a red flag. Having no determination and constantly giving up at the first sign of adversity is a red flag. There's a very faint correlation between the two, but that's all.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

It's probably more seeing how he reacts when frustrated that's the red flag.

If he kept his composure until he eventually stopped playing and said "I don't think this is my type of game", that would have been a more mature approach to the issue than whining.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Just gotta git gud. Maybe he needed to level ADP.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not a monster, I'd never start a man off on DS2.

My SO hates it when I play dark souls. She says it increases the stress levels in our home.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 2 months ago (2 children)

She didn't say you create a stressful situation. She said "it" increases stress levels. It's US against the problem.

That's a keeper right there.

My wife and i do a lot of game-cussin-at but if we start yelling at each other instead of the game we gotta do a kissin break

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Well then your Superior Officer should send you away from the frontlines for some R&R.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Pfft, sometimes you just want wreck shit all casual. Ain't no shame in it as long as you aren't trying to pretend you're uber 1337, or fucking someone over.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

I always say "there's no such thing as cheating in a single player game" and it's interesting seeing the varrying reactions. Some people take a minute and see the wisdom, others say "but...but...you're using cheats...that's cheating!"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yup, I'm with you.

Mind you, if it was an all the time thing, it seems kinda boring, but as an occasional thing, it's fun. It extends replay value, and sometimes lets you see things in the game you don't have time for normally.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

My mind always goes to my long running Sims 4 save file that's somehow lasted about 3 years despite the hundreds of mods (many of which are abandoned and a couple by a mod author who sadly passed away) and countless game updates in that time.

I've mostly played with mechanics as they exist in the game and mods but I've gone to cheats when it better helps the overall story I'm going for, or just I'm getting bored with a given branch of the family tree and want to move it along.

Sometimes that means I'm skipped some annoying grinding, sometimes that means I'm exploiting unpatched exploits, and sometimes that means I'm using cheats because a mod broke something, or even just trying to make something look better. It enhances my play and I'd probably have less fun without it

There are games for that (GTA, Just Cause, any RPG ever), don't play a game that's intended to be challenging on god mode, because that kills the entire point of the game.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nah, it doesn't.

The entire point of any game is to have fun while killing time.

sometimes that means just going ham. Sometimes it means jacking up the difficulty setting, or nerfing yourself, or speedrunning, or wandering around and doing nothing at all except look at the.graphics.

Maybe, for you the only point of a game is to fuck around on.whatever the max difficulty is, and I genuinely hope that you always have games that can give you that.

But, my gaming homie, there's no single point to gaming.

And, can we be real for a minute? Most games, the skill involved is hand-eye coordination combined with reflexes. Which is fine for what it is, but it isn't like the challenges involved are.something special.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

I haven't played all the Dark Souls games, but at least on DS1, the enemies are relatively few and far between, so "going ham" isn't really a thing. The difficulty of DS is in where the enemies are, move sets, etc, not in how many there are or the specific weapons they have. Putting on cheats on something like DS is like having a tool to cut through a puzzle and get to the end w/o interacting with the puzzle in any meaningful sense.

That's fine if that's what you're into, but I highly doubt you'll get as much enjoyment from it vs playing a game with a lot more interesting set pieces, like the ones I mentioned, or really anything with a sandboxy feel.

You do you, of course, I'm just pointing out that if you're looking for a casual slasher session or whatever, there are games designed for that, which would probably give you a lot more satisfaction.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If it's a single player game, who cares?

If you have fun playing the game then congrats! The point is a game is to have fun.

Be me, playing STALKER 2

Spouse hates it

That's the whole story.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Something changed in my SO and now they love watching me play scary games and watch scary movies (they watch from the safety of their desk while playing games, not on the couch w/ me).

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Nah, they love scary games, they just think STALKER sucks. Hits different when the NPCs call me "loner".
