Four senior members of Donald Trump’s entourage have held secret discussions with some of Kyiv’s top political opponents to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, just as Washington aligns with Moscow in seeking to lever the Ukrainian president out of his job.

The senior Trump allies held talks with Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko, a remorselessly ambitious former prime minister, and senior members of the party of Petro Poroshenko, Zelenskyy’s immediate predecessor as president, according to three Ukrainian parliamentarians and a U.S. Republican foreign policy expert.

The discussions centered on whether Ukraine could hold quick presidential elections. These are being delayed in line with the country’s constitution because Ukraine remains under martial law. Critics of holding elections say they could be chaotic and play into Russia’s hands, with so many potential voters serving on the front lines or living abroad as refugees.

Won't be the first time the USA has interfered with democratic elections in a foreign country. It would be the first time as a vassal state of Russia.

Well fuck me, he’s gonna try to regime change Zelenskyy.

EU, and particularly UK, France, Germany, and Poland: pay the fuck attention. Stop assuming my government is your ally. It’s not anymore. I hope we can be again someday, but you REALLY need to wake the fuck up on this shit. We are switching teams. You’re ignoring that at your existential peril.

Don't worry, we know. We wouldn't be re-arming like crazy if we didn't. The general vibe here in eastern Europe is one of worried, resigned determination. I've never seen pro-EU rhetoric this popular before in my life.

Same in central and western europe.

You know one has to give it to putin and trump. They really know how to strongly unite a group that was constantly infighting and bickering with each other.

Yeah uh about that ... let's brainstorm ...what if Zelensky is taken hostage on his next visit to the White House?

Or what if his plane flying him back suddenly dissappears?

Falling out a window only happens because of weird Russian glass, yes?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

I don’t think Zelenskyy will be visiting the White House again for the next 4 years at least. You tend to not want to go back to somebody’s house if they try to extort you and then basically treat you like a child when you’re asking for help

No way those elections would be interfered with in any way...

Ignoring the fact that the USA poking around like this is interference in itself.

Do the people in occupied Ukraine get a vote? How could that possibly be administered?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

Exactly, right now, the whole idea is flawed on many levels.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

Not only the people in occupied Ukraine, but also the occupiers. That oughta nail down the outcome.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

They were forced to vote in Russian elections, IIRC.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yup, I'm predicting 103% turnout.

Seriously? With Tymoshenko? Trump is naive if he thinks she’ll accept any sort of deal. To me she is sorta fanatic and bit more on radical side. Let alone she was accused of dealing with money laundering and corruption. She ran for president 3 times and her best result was 25% in first round of 2010th. That won’t represent people’s will.

Also WTF is this interference. Accusing Zelenskyy campaigned for Dems when he visited factory at the same time plotting coup with Tymoshenko.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago

Corrupt is his jam, no wonder.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago

You're saying she's a potential criminal?

That's great!

America loves criminals, especially as leaders. She'll do perfectly as an installed puppet.

Holdup. The narrative is that Russia attacked (in defense pre-emptively) because of a Nazi coup government but now Russia|Putin|Trump would be happy to install more conservative and nationalist ones?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 weeks ago

The narrative is whatever is more convenient this minute. The rabble will nod along, cheer and rationalize it afterwards.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 weeks ago

Disgusting.

He is doing this because he plans to instigate a hot war with China. It will be terrible. Many will die. He wrongly thinks his trolling will invite Russia to his side but he is wrong. Wrong and stupid and evil.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

Wow! Trump is such a total nazi! Wouldn't that be the thing a nazi would try to do?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Elon is going to fund this I bet. Dude needs to be removed.

Kramer: But I don't even really work here.

Boss: That's what makes this so difficult.
