News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Banning accounts from just upvoting is insane.

Only comedy revolving around punching down is legal. Joke around about punching up... that's illegal now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

Illegal! Just like Elon's immigration status when he and his brother overstayed their visa!

Also Epstein set up his brother on a date!

Bazinga!

HELL YES COMRADE, FIGHT THE POWER

fr though, this is such a badass way to get banned. don't even reply to them - just keep doing the thing, post, and watch as every pathetic attempt at intimidation gets hundreds of defiant upvotes here.

Uh yea I'm actually approaching the amount of Reddit karma on Lemmy in my first week LOL. Guess I know where all the good commenters went now.

I deleted my 11 year old Reddit account a couple days ago after being banned for quoting The Sopranos. On r/movies. As a response to another Sopranos quote.

For most of those 11 years I had no problems then just in the last month I was banned sitewide twice (for threatening behavior, I was venting about fascists and used violent rhetoric I guess, mind you this was on a repost of that famous video of a Nazi getting punched), given this same warning you got about upvoting things they didn’t like, permabanned from r/movies (again for the same quote), I just reached my limit. Reddit was great for me for a long time but I am better off without it. I was on it too much anyways!

One of my buddies was recently complaining about "free speech" on Reddit.

Told him it's a company and not the government, so free speech doesn't count there. He hated that.

Told him if he didn't like it to use Bluesky...he's a staunch conservative...lol

Please read the rules again so that you don't break them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

I tattooed their rules to my chest and I still got warned.

Man isn't even convicted yet and his name is taboo.

The rich are scared. Good. They should be.

[–] [email protected] 86 points 1 week ago

That’s exactly what we need to take from this. Not that money is in control and that’s why they’re cracking down, but that they’re cracking down because they’re scared.

"While you didn't post the rule-breaking content, reading content that breaks the rules is also considered a violation."

"While you didn't post the rule-breaking content, thinking about breaking the law is also considered a violation."

"While you didn't post the rule-breaking content, protesting human rights violations is also considered a violation."

"While you didn't post the rule-breaking content, being an unapproved minority is also considered a violation."

"While you didn't post the rule-breaking content, not drinking enough verification cans is also considered a violation."

They're scared. Spez knows his neck is on the line in a more literal fashion than ever.

When money is speech, speech is not free.

They couldn't make everyone hate him, so now they're trying to make everyone forget about him.

They ban u for upvoting? Not even commenting, but literally just upvoting?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I don’t know if you saw this article, but it’s a fascinating and infuriating read, it’s about all of the Luigi censorship and the upvote policing. It’s scary as hell. Check it out

It talks about terrorist propaganda. I know a little bit about extremist groups use of social media... the tldr is social media is riddled with it. If they're saying that's the motivation then they are using that as an excuse. It's ALWAYS been on reddit p, it's nothing but a cover story.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

That's what they said!

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Please let them implode.

I want Lemmy to have niche content. I'm tired of being a bitter asshole about politics and news on here. I want to gleefully distract myself while my country burns, not be ultra depressed about it because its constantly in my face.

Whatever their goal is, one result is apparent: less voicing of opposite views to the status quo on their website.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

Less voicing of views, period. Reddit doesn't want user interaction. Only views. The bots generate the content while the users are there to generate ad revenue.
