why. literally why. what purpose does this serve?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 months ago

We all know why. Because it'll make them money.

I mean, why would you not want this?

I really like the idea of my kid having the ability to use my card for things in an emergency, but me being able to control it versus them just stealing my credit card.

Seems like a pretty great feature IMO. Not sure why everyone seems to want to hate on it.

I dont like the idea of google watching what my kids buy. Edit for context: I dont like the idea of this being used to advertise to children. I dont like the idea of my child being used as a data point. I dont like the idea of a crazy ex who works at google using this to figure out what your kids are doing. I dont like ANY of the consequences of what this implies. Give your kid cash or a gift card. They dont deserve to have their Privacy rights violated before they can consent.

So then clearly this product isn't for you? But just because you wouldn't use it doesn't mean its a bad product, which is essentially what you're saying.

I hope that your kids aren't gay, trans, or part of literally any minority. If they are, I hope they aren't hunted down by the MAGAts that buy the data you supplied Google with about them willingly before they could even be mature enough to form an opinion about it to be able to consent.

If you're this scared to live in reality, then don't. I don't know what to tell you.

If possessing a digital device is so scary for you, why do you have one?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Possessing a digital device has nothing to do with consent. I'd rather not argue with someone so ignorant about reality they believe that privacy is a black and white issue. Goodbye.

Owning the device is consent. Read the terms of service of your device. lol.

Pretty cool, actually.
