I'm so tired of the uncertainty and chaos these guys are causing. I've spent weeks worried that they'll shut down social security, and that I'll lose my income. I feel like this won't really be the end of that anxiety

My father is in the same boat. His house is paid off and he has a small pension, but not survivable... I'm tempted to move back in to help him at this point.
I live with my dad and he pays the mortgage with his SS. We are screwed without it.
Yeah same. Huzzah for being a disabled basket case while the rich, narcissistic, sociopathic assholes in charge play Russian roulette with the lives of me, you, and 70 million other Americans.
But please, do go on about "efficiency" some more while I try to remember why I go through this shit rather than just eating a bullet and getting it over with.

If any good news comes out of this it would be 7million people having nothing to lose so they riot and take over the agencies. Couldn’t say I’d blame them. My parents are retired and living partially on SSI as well. There are a lot of boomers out there that this admin is about to flip from MAGA to give me my money back party and they’re loud.
They want the chaos and uncertainty. They will blame everyone and everything else as the cause. This is exactly what they want. They want you to ignore the part where they are the cause and blame whoever they are blaming.
I was confused about how the restraining order could conceivably lead to shutting down the agency but apparently Leland Dudek simply wanted to spite the court.
“My anti-fraud team would be DOGE affiliates. My IT staff would be DOGE affiliates,” he said to Bloomberg News on Thursday. “As it stands, I will follow it exactly and terminate access by all SSA employees to our IT systems.” He continued, “Really, I want to turn it off and let the courts figure out how they want to run a federal agency."
I hope that the "clarifying guidance" he received from the court before he changed his mind included an explanation of the judicial smackdown which he would receive if he tried this bullshit.

Yup. I personally think that this will be back & forth until Trump can cover up shutting down Social Security with some other national crisis that Trump will create.
Take your pick at this point. Mexico, Canada, Greenland, Panama. A whole bunch of possible climate disasters and fires.
What he really needs to do is say that he will subsidize eggs with the savings lol
