What is a Tankie?

I had a conversation with a "Democrats betrayed us on Gaza" account, during which time it started to seem pretty likely to me they they couldn't speak Arabic but were pretending that they could. That was pretty interesting. Instead of being able to speak on the Arabic details we were talking about, they started dissembling into a pattern of (1) hostility (2) accusing me of being the person in the wrong because I am bad (3) randomly changing the subject, making nonsensical statements, and insisting that they were right. Sort of like these examples:

If you start looking closely, it's only a small number of accounts that tend to "argue" in that very particular way, and they almost all have the same particular political views. I wonder why.
I don't think it's a small number of accounts that argue that way. It's typical of all online users when they are wrong and don't have a response.
It's common to lash out when embarrassed, especially toward the thing you perceive caused the embarrassment.
I don't think that's a political indicator, it's just an indicator that it's human (or at least trained on human interactions, especially online interactions)
Just more evidence to push towards "they are targets places as fringe as lemmy now" conclusion in our previous conversation.

Your instsnce literally block 3 spam instances and threads.net and thats it. Everything else goes, even the pedo intances that supposedly exists (but I am not gonna try to verify their existence since that's just ๐คฎ, but scroll down the instance list and you see some with "pedo" in their domain name, which is just huge red flags)

That could be the case. However, your instance admins don't seem to want to do much modding. I've seen lots of questionable comments from there including hate speech and all sorts of bizarre takes. It might all one person for all I know but it looks the same from the outside. I haven't blocked your instance as of yet but if the spam increases I might have to unfortunately.

A lot of places that are "full of tankies" actually have more people not like that in them. However, the moderation is another story. So while you may not get that feeling from the general user base, that is because it is often the mods people are talking about. Unless it's like hexbear, which were brigading and shit.
Apparently there's a decently sized community on the instance I'm on. It's got a different vibe than most similar reddit communities though

I don't hate China, I hate CCP. The CCP ruined my former country so I had to flee.
Similarly, I hate the republicans and establishment democrats, it doesn't mean hate the USA, the values of Freedom (that are constantly violated by the government).
Liking China is not being a tankie.

The students at ๅคฉๅฎ้จๅนฟๅบ (Tiananment Square) were patriots who love China and peacefully attended a demonstration seeking reforms and seeked a better future for China. These are people who actually loved China, not people who shill for the government all the time.
Similarly, liking the USA does not make you a maga/nazi, you can like the ideals of the US, Freedom and Democracy, while being against the US Government.
I learned a lot from tankies, they're right in aspects, but china is not democratic nor is it as socialist as it could be, why should we support a regime that doesn't do anything to push forward communism?
