At least now we know that everyone in Seattle is safe 🀑

I know it's sarcasm, but it's genuinely chilling how much Seattle is pretending to care about people while targeting the exact same people

SPD is surveilling the same people the Trump administration is targeting. The Trump administration can access the camera footage.

And from the linked article, Seattle Must Repeal Mass Surveillance Expansion To Protect People from Trump:

Mayor Harrell and City Council’s response to the Trump administration so far is all talk, no action. They have issued a tepidly worded letter addressed to no one, a useless bill saying Seattle will follow the existing State Shield law, a resolution proclaiming councilmembers love SPD, and held panel discussions. If Mayor Harrell and the City Council actually want to protect us from the Trump administration, they must start taking action, including a repeal of the mass surveillance they approved last year.

I don't think we will ever hit critical mass on this issue IMHO

Normie is too dense to see the class war, I gave zero hope them seeing for what this before it is too late.

With that being said this is part of the class war, a very important battle we are losing within larger context. They know what they need to have in place in order to keep that boot on our necks at all times.

Defund the police helped get Eric Adams elected.

Working class gets fucked over time unless they do something. And they kinda do it to themselves since bad faith factors always seem to be able to mobilize useful idiots

so people in the CID should just accept a ridiculous amount of violent crime in their neighborhood?

I'm confused.

I value privacy. but if I lived on north aurora I'd want them to reduce the streetwalkers and violence. not sure how to do that without putting hundreds more cops on the streets, sans the cameras...

now the issues I have come down to SPD viewing surveillance as an alternative to actually enforcing the laws. or SPOG figuring out a way to grift more overtime from it.

I get it, I fucking despise trump too, but just saying "federal law enforcement will have access to this local law enforcement tool so it has to go away" seems dubious from the premise.

What ridiculous amount of crime are you alluding to? It's been going down over the past several decades, not up.

But if you must call for more of something, why not just call for more boots on the ground in those minority neighborhoods? That always turns out well.

And why would you assume a surveillance panopticon would only be used for good purposes?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

it's so fucking cute that you think it's only two crimes.

goddamn. you really hate asians huh?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't doubt hate crimes are increasing,

I do doubt that crime in general is increasing. I do doubt that intensive and automated surveillance is anywhere remotely close to helpful. I do doubt that relying on law enforcement, which is usually on the side of the hateful, are the right custodians of mass surveillance, let alone given discretion to use violence in response to it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

no more cops and no surveillance - you just figure the crimes will stop themselves.

that's a new kind of stupid.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago

Here is the map of CCTV camera locations. The ones we're being told about, at least.

It also lists camera models. The one on 7th Ave S and S King Street is listed as an Axis Q6100-E/Q6135-LE. To give you an idea of what these things are capable of, have a look at this product spec video.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Sounds like the plot to a video game... That video game turned out great for the company that did this...

This will be the future of every metropolitan city. Wait until the robot police are dispatched to apprehend the criminals.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Whatever you do, don't point a high powered laser directly at the cameras you might burn out the CCD sensor, permanently disabling it and we wouldn't want that now would we?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

a blue laser the most powerful wavelength too.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

Seems like a lot of folk gonna be sleepless in Seattle

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

We'll do anything to not treat the cause of problems. Why help the homeless when you can just make it illegal to sleep anywhere. Out of sight, out of mind.
