Haven't used Twitch in awhile and was surprised when trying to follow a channel only to see a phone verification prompt.

We need an online resource that tracks exactly where a company is in the enshittification pipeline. Twitch is still usable, but at some point soon it won't be.

Huh. I’ve seen channels where a phone number is required to chat, but I haven’t run into one where a phone number is required to merely follow. That sucks.

I just disregard those streamers are useless because they require my personal information with zero benefit to me. I add them to be block list so I hopefully never see them ever.

They changed things so that a phone number is needed to DM people as well. I wouldn't mind, but I would have thought a long-standing account with good public participation, no bans and maybe the odd sub or two would have been enough not to need that.

I'm assuming the phone number database will at some point be sold to a telemarketing agency, or else accidentally (or accidentally on purpose) leaked. Not a fan.

They are owned by Amazon they can't go public they are already public. It's probably to cover some bullshit laws in the states
