Just some casual news headlines and captions:

Ms. Rachel doubles down on support for children in Gaza “It’s sad that people try to make it controversial when you speak out for children that are facing immeasurable suffering,” the YouTube educator said in a recent interview with Zeteo.

Kids’ YouTube star ‘Ms. Rachel’ defends her Gaza comments in talk with anti-Israel reporter “Her increasingly politicized online presence should concern parents. Ms. Rachel has a moral compass — but it only points leftward,” New York Post columnist Bethany Mandel wrote.

I'm not a parent, but if I was I'd want my kids to be educated and entertained by someone who cares when children are being bombed.

I think apolitical children's programming should be banned.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

Yup. Much like Mr. Rogers who put his feet in a kiddie pool with a black man (I believe it was the mail man). Children's programming has always been empathetic and inclusive.

They even renamed hummus because people kept getting triggered.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

It’s either that or it’s WOKE!!! There are NO OTHER POSSIBILITIES!!!

On the other hand, I think the issue that some people had was the lengthy advocating for certain children, but not others suffering in the same conflict.

It's likely justified, since the scale of the overwhelming majority of children suffering in Gaza are Palestinian, and comparatively few children were/are Israeli.

history is so concerned about how much the children suffered in Auschwitz, yet they forget how the nazis were hard on nazi children, forcing them to go to Hitler youth summer camps. the horror

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Won't someone think about how the Germans suffered? Biased media coverage, talking about the holocaust without mentioning the prejudices aryans faced /s

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

ok, but less internet edgelord.

it still sucked for those children to grow up in a nazi country, under war.

it was still paradise for them compared with the horrors the nazis did. and if they are upset about it, they better blame their nazi parents.

She's been very clear that she cares for all children. I think anyone that's being honest with themselves knows that Palestinian children are going through incredible suffering so bringing special attention to that is a noble act.

There were also many Israeli children who were murdered, maimed, or kidnapped by Hamas and she went 2 years without mentioning it. This is also in a climate in which people are invalidating the suffering of those children. I don't think it's wrong for someone to make a principled political stand, but it is intellectually dishonest to say "I just care for ALL children" and then ignore a large group of them.

Again, I am not saying that I think she is in the wrong, which I have already made explicit. The people whose suffering children she ignored are also not wrong to be confused about her position.

She has commented primarily about Palestinian children because there are more of them suffering. Enough said.

Only Palestinian children have suffered from genocide and ethnic cleansing at the hands of the group of fascists that currently run Israel.

Over 15000 children have been killed by their far right regime. My hope is that the people of Israel, who are fed and have access to water, will reject further violence through their democratic processes.

I also hope that the people of Gaza reject Hamas as they try to survive starvation, water deprivation and the genocide they have been subjected to by a fascist regime.

I respect Ms Rachel for standing up for the downtrodden and victimized. In my view, there is nothing more human. Collectively, we should all be doing more to help those that are suffering, including all victims of groups that spread terror (such as the Government of Israel and Hamas).

You want her to treat both sides equally? Tell a story that both sides have suffered equally during the occupation?
