a decade after her death, shitlibs will sanitise her, chop off a couple sound bites, and say she always agreed with them. then forget everything she stood for.

Just like what they did to MLK.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 weeks ago

you could pay half the country with the energy of MLK rolling in his grave.

Anyone with a bumper sticker calling for the rape of someone, especially a minor, should be anal raped themselves just to make sure they know what they're wishing for.

I'll die on this hill.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

emotionally, I agree, but I think we shouldn't have a mechanism to implement anal rape onto the public.

She'll be a t-shirt poster soon enough.

Edit: saying that with all respect to her, just saying that her image will be used and abused to death soon enough

If you go check out conservative communities on the internet, you’ll find and endless stream of men talking about sexual violence towards Greta. It’s really disturbing and gives you an idea of how their brain works.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So here is a trick, when you hear about people saying that they are on the left but are tired of hearing about her, you can tell they are full of shit. Why? Because actual media will report on her actions because she has celebrity activist status. But they stop when the events stop. Conservatives media will harp on her in a creepy way for months without any pushing. Am radio will drop her name like they blame Obama for covid.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 weeks ago

High school thinking would dictate that they were attracted to her from the get-go. As in when she was 16. I've seen too much evidence to not just put that thought to bed. These folks project like a flashlight.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 weeks ago

I've seen some absolutly crazy shit from Alberta consevatives a couple of years ago. Basically bumper stickers calling for the rape of a 16 years old. And these people think of themself as representative of familly values and freedom of speech. We got to get ready to throw some punches folks, some people are beyond saving.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

She kinda is the Sophie of this Generation.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

No not even close. I mean no disrespect to Greta nor do I want to diminish her accomplishments in any way. The risk at which she does this is however incomparable to the Scholl siblings. There has never been the risk of a death sentence or anything remotely close to that.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

There is a high chance she will be killed by Israel for her attempt at helping Palestine.

Greta is also choosing to do this. She has ever, chance to ... just not do it. Sofi had no say in her situation.

Eehhh, she's on a boat sailing to deliver supplies to Gaza. Do you know what Israelis do to people that do this? They shoot at government representatives from allied countries that come to observe, they murder journalists for breakfast, and there is an extremely realistic chance she will be murdered or maimed as the Israeli army doesn't give a shit about who she is or what she's about to do. They'll murder her and then come up with some bullshit story about how violent she was.

This is an army that slaughtered ambulance workers that came to a call to help. A boy who was captured before saw this and was murdered only days after as the ambulance thing became a bit of a news problem. This is an army of psychopaths that don't give a shit.

To say that there isn't a death sentence at the end of this trip is disingenuous.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 weeks ago

I have been very worried for years now that she will meet the same fate. I hope I'm wrong.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 weeks ago (4 children)

Shouldn’t she be wearing a life jacket if she’s going to be posing on the edge of the boat like that?

I think she prefers sail boats rather than fuel burning boats, so it’s going to be difficult for them to turn around and pick her up if she falls in.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Greta: "what about no longer killing the planet? Or children, for that matter?"

Jaybone: "Yeah, but maybe you could first wear something I consider appropriate? Then we can talk."

[–] [email protected] 26 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He is right though, please at all times wear life jackets on boats - regardless if that is on sailing or motorised vessels! It is extremely hard to stay afloat and alive until the crew is in a state to help. It happens way too often and even to experienced sailors.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 3 weeks ago

Being right doesn't make it appropriate. The context of a message is important and having such a statement about such a person in such a situation met with a comment like that is ridiculous.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

lol “wear something I consider appropriate” like I’m criticizing her wardrobe.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 weeks ago

The ridiculousness of your comment was kind of my point.

Sailboats have motors that can reverse. No it isn't hard to turn around unless they're in a savage storm or extremely large waves. Which judging by the picture they aren't. At all.

The smaller the ship the easier it is to maneuver.

I hope all our politicians are paying attention. That's how you solve problems and earn admiration. I'm sure everyone of our politicians can swim just fine. But do they got the balls to confront chaos to save people in need?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 weeks ago

They neither have the balls nor any desire. Our leaders are, to a one, weak men and women seeking only to shove as much money in their pockets as possible before their hopefully swift and "un"timely guillotine-enabled deaths.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

can someone explain what did she do to be qualified as "gift to humanity"? kinda bold claim

[–] [email protected] 35 points 3 weeks ago

Consistently fighting for personal rights and environmental equality.

Not to mention she's able to shrug off the obscene amount of hate she gets, so it's pretty obvious she really believes in what she fights for.

More of a hero than anyone else within 30 years her age.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

She helped Germany de-provision their nuclear energy via emotion driven policy, so they could inevitably deploy coal to avoid deindustrialization.

Wasn't she propped up by insanely rich parents though. Not discrediting the work she does but it's not like any of us even have the chance to do what she's doing

[–] [email protected] 25 points 3 weeks ago

Not discrediting the work she does but it’s not like any of us even have the chance to do what she’s doing

Horse shit. That's exactly what you're doing.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 3 weeks ago

?

So unless you're rich, you can't protest? Unless you're rich, you can't make your voice heard?

As I understand it, her parents are well off but I don't see them being insanely rich. I also see Greta herself basicat not spending all that much as she actually seems to put her money where her mouth is; something not seen often anymore.

It makes it a lot easier for sure if your parents have some money, but it's not a requirement.

Comments like yours distract from the actual fact that she is actually sailing straight at an actual marine fleet from a country known to actually murder anyone that tries to stop them from committing actual fucking genocide. There is an actual non zero chance that she'll be dead or maimed before this is over and she knows this and is there anyway.

This woman has balls of weapons grade uranium and any talks about her progenity is distracting and disgusting bullshit that has zero to do with the actual subject

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 weeks ago

She’s doing what must be done despite the draw of greed. It’s admirable. Not to say someone’s given the opportunity couldn’t do a better job
