And it's made just that much more surreal by the fact that the person with primary responsibility for the historical state of affairs is so obviously an emotionally stunted pathological liar and toxic narcissist, so none of it is really based in any sort of concensual reality. Instead, the destruction of everything of any value in the US is being driven by the delusions and lies of someone who is deeply and profoundly mentally ill.
The governor had control of the California National Guard until Trump became involved, and certainly did not need Trump to be involved if California needed it to be used.
