Since there's no "Lord StarTron" in Star Trek, I'm guessing this is just a 0 mask. Why put it there?

  • Your average normie's gonna look at that and say: "Star Trek BS, I don't wanna think that much," and forget all about it.
  • Your average Trekkie's gonna mention it to every other Trekkie they know, and thus expand the reach of the flyer. Everyone has at least one Trekkie friend.
  • The intended recipient's gonna look up "Lord StarTron", see nothing, and then out of desperation just add the birthday to the mask and try that number (which is the right answer)

It's a reference to an actual note someone put up and is basically calling them a giant nerd instead of leaving a normal message like "hey, found wallet, call this number". Although in fairness, the idea is actually pretty interesting because it creates an easy cypher only the intended recipient can crack, thus filtering out cons.

The original note was almost identical, MINUS the Star Trek part.

I looked at it and thought, "lol funny comic strip".

I thought "a lemming found a wallet"

Vulcan army? Lord StarTron!? Dude is getting trolled.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 5 days ago

Ngl, this is so clever

This implies the person knows the person's birthday yeah? Just confirming.

Well they have their wallet...

Well I'm making a sandwich, you want one?

Their birth date would be take from their ID. There was a post a few months ago where someone claimed to have left a similar note after finding a wallet. No mention of the Klingon or invitation though.

Link? I'm wondering how the car was found with only information from the wallet.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 days ago

Perhaps it was lying in on the ground in close proximity to the car or its drivers door?

Insurance card.

  1. Why does this person know what car the other person drives and where it is? Not exactly common info found in a wallet.

  2. Why not just stay where their car is? They'll obviously be back at some point.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 days ago

I assume the wallet was found on that block so the wallet finder put those flyers on the parked cars. We just happen to see the perspective of the wallet loser.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago

My wallet has my ID with name and address, which is where the car is likely parked, and it has my insurance card which says exactly what make, model, and year the car is, even has the VIN.

As for the second question, the finder has places to be.

Maybe I don’t need my wallet after all

ChatGPT says there is no such episode with a "Vulcan army" and no "Lord Startron" charachter, and then proceeds to give reasons for why I might be talking shit.

[–] [email protected] 59 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If I cared what ChatGPT says, I would ask it.

Interesting to get hung up on the mention of AI. I understand being critical of AI, but to avoid the triggering I'll write out what the actual purpose of the comment was....

Is this a real episode that is mentioned? Is the author a Star Trek fan, or have they made up something random for the sake of the comic? A search doesn't seem to find details of a real episode like this.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 5 days ago

Fairly positive the main source of outcry to your comment, is that AI doesn't know what the fuck it's talking about in general. So if you want proper information, don't use AI.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 5 days ago

Cause you could have said you looked up the episode and found nothing. The mention of ChatGPT basically functions as an ad for it and also points out how garbage it is while avoiding the conversation you could have with the real people here that would be happy for it. This kinda the point of a forum board with a comment section.

We aren't hung up on it. Just pointing out its stupidity in being brought up and that we don't care about your previous unrelated and unhelpful chat bot experience.

Anyways. No. Not real, it's a joke. Insert funny human response here.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

I don't go to social media because I want to hear what AI says. I'm here for the conversation with other humans.

And here am I thinking about the thing I once read that Klingon was base 4 and if i need to put in the episode number as episode in all of treck or in the season or in the show or just the star date on which that happens ...
