MODERATORS

Last week, top ICE officials ordered officers to increase arrests and to get “creative” in their methods, including trying to nab people the officers happen to encounter in what are known as “collateral arrests.” The orders come in the wake of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller setting a quota of 3,000 immigration arrests per day, along with a sharp rise in protests against the crackdown.

In Westbury, the HSI agents didn’t respond to the gathered crowd. After a few minutes, the agents drove away. A commotion erupted down the road, off-camera, and onlookers began rushing toward the corner.

One of the Nissans, carrying two of the HSI agents, had crashed into a black pickup truck that happened to be passing through the intersection. Three eyewitnesses told The Intercept that the agents’ car had sped away. Two of the witnesses believe the Nissan blew a stop sign, causing the crash. (Nassau County police referred questions about the accident to ICE, which did not respond to an inquiry.)

I feel bad for the car.

It could've helped a member of the working class.

So they cover their faces but drive their own cars? Or am I missing something?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

I dont think the cars are externally marked.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

it's not clear from the except whether the nissan was a personal or federal vehicle (and I'm not clicking through more than one screen of cookies/adblock nonsense to read the rest of it)

Do we know if they aren't just deputized proud boys?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 20 hours ago

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a federal car that wasn’t Ford, Chevrolet, or Dodge, you know, American brands. I mean there has to be some but I haven’t seen one.

Their 'collateral arrests' game is going to get the plain clothed ICE agents killed. Don't blame the public when it happens. Blame the Border Czar.

Would really love to see pics of their tattoos when this happens. Im sure they're interesting.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

This is acceptable.

It's an effective tactic that conservatives have been employing for decades.

The reason they hate schools so much is because they can't infiltrate them. They can't infiltrate them because they're genuinely too stupid to compete in academia, and even the ruling class recognizes how an effective educational system is needed to maintain their dominance.

I’m thinking that if ICE et al keeps this up, pretty soon random people are gonna start taking sneaky potshots at them. Amongst many, many other things, these dipshits are actively making their own jobs wildly more dangerous.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 14 hours ago

100%. We should be encouraging them without identifying them.

One can only hope.

No place for fascism in NY!

As somebody from Western NY, this made me happy to read

[–] [email protected] 69 points 1 day ago (9 children)

ICE really does seem like the new SS. As a European it's scary as fuck to watch the world's most powerful state turn fascist.

Try being an American citizen with a history degree. I know where this leads, and I'm terrified.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Okay but have you considered that you're being a shrill alarmist commie?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 hours ago

Actually, I have considered that, wanting to avoid being the same kind of victim of partisan propaganda as stupid Conservatives. This is especially important to me, as I have been an Unaffiliated Independent since first registering to vote in 1977. It important to me to not succumb to the propaganda of either side.

My self-reflection has determined to my personal satisfaction that I am not shrill, I'm not an alarmist, and I'm not a commie. I have a history degree, 30 years of professional experience, and have closely watched the rise of extremist Conservatism since the mid-80s, so I am very comfortable offering my opinions with confidence. I don't worry about acceptance from MAGA Nazi Traitors. I couldn't care less about their treasonous, shallow, ignorant, violent, political opinions.

My education, knowledge, and experience has led me to believe that we are facing a divide in America as bad as the Civil War, and very possibly worse. The MAGAs are clearly taking their strategies from the Nazi Germany Playbook, and want to murder vast swathes of Americans. To recognize and warn others about it is not shrill, alarmist, or "commie," and it is not lost on me that you are attempting to shame me into silence.

It won't work. Indies like me aren't afraid in the least of Cowardly Nazi Traitors like you. We know what you are up to, and we will stop you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago

I feel like my history teachers tried to warn us about this, but they couldn't say it directly and most of us didn't take the hint.

"Does history repeat itself?"

"Those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it."

What they're really trying to get their students thinking is "do we learn from history?" And the answer is a big, fat, fuck no.

As an American, the scariest part is how little most seem to care about it. Well, that and the fascism.

To see the Canadian government start pushing bills on immigration that are similar to those put in place to allow all this to happen in the US is terrifying as well. We voted in hopes of fending off this fascist takeover and yet here we are with Drumpfkins next door and our own "left" cooking the country.

The citizens of the world are under fire everywhere from fascism and even Nazism. We all need to stand up and fight back no matter where we live.

Not suprising, they already did a hit and run on a cyclist and pedestrian in LA.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She gave them an arrest quota of 3,000 a day. Jesus christ

Steven Miller is apparently having screaming meltdowns about how more and more and more “immigrants” must be arrested/deported. Miller is likely the person who is actually our acting president right now with Trump as a chaotic front to keep people distracted from this.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 day ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller has far too much power. He is HitlerPig's ~~Wormtail~~ Wormtongue, whispering poison in his ear. He's hidden in the shadows for far too long like the creepy lizard he is. It's time to focus on him, assign his atrocities to him, and start attacking him. He needs to be run out of the administration and the government.

Edit: Sorry, got my fantasy bad guys mixed up.

Hoping no real people were injured.
