Hi community,

As the title suggests, I am struggling to stay functional in this weather. The air con makes the room feel weird and sweaty, I impulse purchased an oodie to stay warm and yet can't find a decent way to stay functional and get out of my bed unless I am expected to report to work.

Any tips/ideas? Thanks in advance.

PS: I take Ritalin LA (30 mg) and Escitalopram (10 mg)

If I sit still I get way more sensitive to temperature than if I move around. Like lying under a warm duvet, it's almost impossible to remove it. But get up and do some frog leaps and burpees and you'll soon want to throw off that duvet and change your situation.

Same with shivering in a cold wet towel, being cold isn't enough to get me to get dressed if I'm sitting down. But doing some squats or hip raises to raise my body temperature and suddenly I'm able to move around and get shit done again.

My brain is motion powered. I need to move to function.

Find some movement you can do in bed (hip raises, crunches, pushups) that get you warm enough to get out of bed. Maybe it helps!

I don't cope with heated spaces very well at all, because they get stuffy, and send me to sleep. So I tend to rely heavily on my throw over/shawl!

Recently my issues have been like, I am warm(oodie) but the weather I interact with is cold and I am unable to process more than one weather setting 😅

I use routines and exercise "streaks".

A 30min morning walk does wonders for my mental clarity and work drive.

Secret for me is to get a "streak" of contiguous days ive walked, and be really focussed on not losing the streak... Gets me up, out of bed, dressed and out for my walk.

Everything is easier after that...
