As a kiwi I can say that X can fuck right off.

As a kiwi? Is that like an alternative to Twitter?

Edit: I didn't know you guys 😂. I'm sorry. I know that a Kiwi is someone from New Zealand.

It's like X but in Oceania. The logo is very similar, it's the same rotated 180 degrees and the owner is a billionaire asshole

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

no being a kiwi is an alternative to being fucking boring :)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Kiwi just means someone from New Zealand

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Oh. I'm so sorry 😐. I didn't know 😕.

Yes, a shitty alternative to Twitter

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nobody has asked me so far how much they would need to pay me every month before I would start using twitter...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I'll use twitter full time for about tree fiddy.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Some are a little cheaper than others... ;-)

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 years ago

Social media you need to pay for? Haha!

Shame they aren't piloting in the US, now they'll probably figure out what a colossal mistake it is before it wrecks their company.

I wonder what those specific countries did to Elon. My experience is that most of his decisions are spite based.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago

NZ is usually used as a Guinea pig by tech companies, small population, English speaking, etc.

However I think it might be that the Alll Blacks might face off the Springboks in the Rugby World Cup Final and Elon wants to minimise the shitposting on Twitter. /s

My guess is it's simmering anger at MEGA and Kim Dotcom.

It's very specific, isn't it. Have you considered he may have just thrown three darts at a wall-sized map of the world?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 years ago

Maps have started including NZ now?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

Another bad decision from Elon.

So Elon is basically like the “public agent”guy but instead of raising offer, he lowers the demand.

I wouldn't use twitter if I was paid

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Elon Musk's X, formerly known as Twitter, has started charging new users in New Zealand and the Philippines $1 (£0.82) a year to access key features, as part of a new trial.

Those who opt out of the subscription fee will only be able to read posts, watch videos and follow accounts.

While there is a clear financial interest for the company to charge users, the controversial billionaire has said that getting people to pay for the service is aimed at tackling bots.

Paid subscribers of an enhanced service, called X Premium, now pay for more features like longer posts and increased visibility on the platform.

In recent weeks, the company has been investigated by the European Union for the possible spread of terrorist and violent content and hate speech, after Hamas's attack on Israel.

It has also been fined by Australia's internet safety watchdog for failing to cooperate with a probe into anti-child abuse practices.

The original article contains 365 words, the summary contains 156 words. Saved 57%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Hahahahahaha. I never had a twitter account when it was free and not run by that sociopathic representation of the dunning kruger effect. I can't imagine I'll suddenly decide to pay money to get one.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Smart! Now he only needs every person in those countries to sign up and he'll have have made his 44 billion back in... About 360 years!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

So many people wouldn't bother just because they don't want their credit card info In their hands, even if it's only a dollar.
